Crownover (6-foot-7, 319 pounds) spent five years as a contributor at Texas A&M, and he started all 13 games in each of his final two seasons at right tackle. New England's first-round pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, Caleb Lomu, projects as the team's future starter at right tackle with Will Campbell already solidified on the left side, meaning Crownover will compete with the likes of James Hudson, Marcus Bryant, Sebastian Gutierrez and Lorenz Metz for depth reps as a rookie.

Crownover ended his productive A&M career with 1,886 snaps at right tackle for the Aggies. As a senior, he recorded 16 games at right tackle and allowed just two sacks on the year. Also allowing 27 pressures, Crownover's 6'7", 335-pound frame, and improved mechanics, he possesses the necessary athletic traits to become a reliable starter. His primary position is at right tackle.

According to Pro Football Focus, Crownover earned a 58.4 pass blocking grade, but did thrive as a run blocker, and has all the potential to become a lock-down tackle in pass protection if his footwork and hand placement improve with the new coaching staff. One of the top performers at the Senior Bowl, Crownover's potential was evident to every scout in attendance.

As a former tight end in high school, it's no surprise that Crownover, who was once considered a likely undrafted free agent, increased his stock in the matter of months, especially after 40-plus starts at right tackle in the SEC, which is highly valuable for any coaching staff.

One of my biggest motivations is being under-recruited out of high school. I knew the player I wanted to be, but it took people some time to see it. I had to prove who I am and what I can do. No matter where you are in your situation, keep going and try to get better every day. It might take one day or one week, but as long as you keep working, your opportunity will come.

Some had him late in Round 3 or Round 4.

For me, I would have been happy to see us trade into the 4th with our 5th and a couple of 6ths to get him. That would have been the 4 picks: 2 OT's, EDGE and TE. I would then hope for one pick to be trade into 2027.
==========
I know nothing about our 5th rounder, but it matters not. He is part of the gravy.

Nothing is certain but Our tackle situation looks pretty good now. 2 proven starters, one who projects as a future starter, and one who projects as a decent backup with potential to start.

I have a feeling both our rookie tackles will also be worked at guard.

This must mean Will Campbell is moving to Gu…

I think this might be my favorite pick. Value drives some of that

If he could become a swing tackle that would be great
Brown could be the swing IOL

I'm just talking about this season *hopefully*. AVT and Onwenu are not locks to start all 17. In my opinion, last year's OL was still pretty bad. We were just used to abysmal the previous two seasons. We should absolutely be looking to upgrade through the draft every year until we have homegrown above average talent at every starting position and every backup. And then keep going for random retirements, career ending injuries, free agent defections...

I have a feeling both our rookie tackles will also be worked at guard.
I think Lomu will be first man off the bench next year at 4 of the 5 (probably not C)

Odd fact about him, he was born the day after 9/11.

I think this might be my favorite pick. Value drives some of that
I would not have been surprised to see Crownover go in the 3rd or 4th round so yes this appears to be a bargain acquisition by grabbing him in the 6th.
