DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft: Day 2

Such an UnBB Draft I'm satisfied.

Jalen Huskey to the Jags
Damn.....He was a sleeper I was hoping to land late. Both him and Thomas were supposed to be available in the 5th-7th rounds. Huskey is a good player.

Yeah it is.....Most of the draft boards had Jacoby rated in the low 200's which I also felt was way too low. He's a good player. I was hoping to land him in the 6th round.

The draft boards and/or the teams were way off. A lot of low rated prospects drafted way higher than expected.
I wasn't a big fan of Thomas. Made spectacular plays but some pretty big boobs too, both in coverage and against the run. He didn't feel too Vrabel-like to me.

Yeah that’s a lot. I’m pretty confident the one 5th, three 6ths and one 7th will transform into something like one 4th and two 6ths.
171 plus 191 and 198 would get us to about 122.

We might start looking anytime after 115.

Weird feeling…my brain says “good, solid draft “. But part of me says BORING. Lol.

I would have loved him in the 6th/7th round, develop him in the special teams pipeline to start with, see what he can do.
But yeah...I'm shocked he went in the 3rd round to anyone.

You do realize you just admitted to a guy being biased making an outrageous statement, right.

Raridon is a mediocre blocker. He's not close to being in the same class as Kacmarek, Roush or even Delp as a Blocker. So there is no way that Raridon is the best TE in the draft.
He is a better pass catcher and route runner, while blocking is important as a TE it's not everything. I agree that all of those guys you mentioned are better blockers but I don't know if they have the receiving chops to become Drakes guy like HH has been.

Not having those 4th round picks is really hurting with the amount of talent available. Gotta hope Streichen and Cowden keep a leash on Wolf tomorrow.

Not true.
You definitely would.

I am indeed interested in backups and possible backups, but not in camp fodder. I suspect that there will be more than 10-15 that I have no interest in from now until camp.

Blocking is the majority of what a TE does.
Both in the run game and the passing game.

And that is where a Rookie TE would earn their chops this year. By being the 3rd TE for blocking. Raridon is going to have to put on muscle and really work on his technique to be of any use this year.

I put zero weight in the opinion of a guy who is admittedly biased.

A boring draft is often OK for playoff teams.

Amazing draft. Eli Raridon is a first round talent without the injuries. Obviously multiple acl injuries a real risk, but love the pick in late 3rd. Follow ND closely. Solid pick.
I recall another TE who fell in his draft class b/c of his injury history. We landed him in the 2010 draft.

Considering where the Pats were drafting, and in a weak draft, you gotta love what the Pats have been able to do.

Looks like they got three contributors at positions of need.
I don't believe it's a "weak" draft. Just because there aren't the "blue chippers" that everyone get's a hard-on over doesn't mean it's weak. There is good depth at Edge, TE and the O-line.

Not so much at DT or LB.

So the Pats got…

- Tackle depth this year and high-end right tackle of the future
- Violent edge capable of starting almost immediately
- 6’7” athletic tight end with TE1 potential after a year

Add an AJ Brown trade on top and they are cooking. Only holes left are, perhaps, guard and LB depth, and maybe a little more edge depth too.
If we flipped Boutte into a 4 and took Kyle Louis… I wouldn’t hate it.

If we get Charles Demmings in the fifth then I will have nailed 3 picks in the draft contest.
