DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft: Day 2

Of course this leaves edge as the big need heading to day 2 and id have lb pretty close up there. Not sure what will be available towards the end of rd 2 but something to note - alex highsmith is a name i keep hearing on the trade block

I want to see both taken, I just worry about the drop off after Spillane.
Not much left of the lb group, and I never thought the lb group was all that great with the exception of spillan. As far as the edge goes we were terrible when it came to sacking the qb, so that's an area of need also, although theyve done more to shore up the position than they have at lb.

Yeah, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll find a diamond in the rough on LB somewhere during the draft, but I trust Wolf/Cowden/etc. to have a good handle on who they should take and when.

Now that I think about it because the lb group hasn't been addressed while edge has to an extent lb might be the bigger area of need

If AJ Brown trade is in the offing, I don't see the need for a WR. Focus on DL, LB, and maybe TE.
100% agree. And by DL - I mean EDGE.
Who can feel good with where we are with 2 old and/or ailing DE's (Landry & Jones).
And Ponder - who is very much unknown as a starting & runblocking DE. And Swinson may emerge (high hopes) but it's hope.

LB behind Spillane is also an underrated important need.

Giants drafting another pass rusher makes me think Thibodeaux is available.

We already reclaimed one LSU lass rusher…try again?

5th round pick ish

I think both lb and edge
My thoughts exactly.
I would prefer Edge first, but picking at the end of the rd you have to be open and see what develops ahead of you.
Golday and DDS would be an incredible day 2, but doubt that's possible.
Maybe DDS/Jacas/Crawford and Orr is more realistic.

Guard or another tackle. I am not joking about the tackle with a recovering LT and a 35 year old RT. Even adding the first rounder, we still need to develop a swing tackle/guard. And he needs to be quality.
I'm with you. I would hope they would let Lomu compete for the LT slot. I remain unconvinced on Campbell.

Probably in that order.

There's more depth at TE than on the Defensive positions of need

Edge is probably the higher priority but best player available on D may be the better way to go.

Some of the later round WRs are worth a shot as they can try to find a place on special teams as returners etc.

Yup.
We added a very good blocking TE in FA.
We need to add a TE who's receiving skills and athleticism can stretch the defense. There is plenty of those guys that will go rd 4 and after. I have my binkies, but getting one after rd 3 shouldn't be hard.
Edge/LB than TE would be ideal.

Need a TE, need another big CB eventually (3rd), but if a good DT, Guard or EDGE player is there in round two you pull the trigger.

Dani Dennis-Sutton looks like the second coming of Willie McGinest at DE. Has the size, strength and length to play a traditional hand in the dirt DE role, but athletic enough to stand up and play some OLB. Would block out the sun on one side of the field for QB's in goal line situations. He's kind of my wishlist pick in round two.

Gabe Jacas would be a more traditional OLB, he's strong and probably athletic enough to step in and start now if Landry starts the season limited.

Oscar Delp or Sam Roush would be a quality add in round two, they need an every down TE who can block... not just a receiver.

For bigger CB's I want Ephesians Prysock or Charlie Demmings in the third round. Big, fast, and agile... we don't need slow or small CB's to eventually replace Davis.

I will keep my day 3 moves to myself for now. There will be plenty of time to talk about day 3 binkies on day 3. For now my day 2 guys.

I will forgo talking about any borderline round 1 guys like Boston, McCoy, McNeil, McDonald, ect... I will just assume they are gone and will not even be in trade up range. And frankly I don't want to trade up again ideally.

BUT if any of McCoy, Boston, McNeil, Terrell, Hood and Parker, who i believe are the 6 most impactful players still available when you count positional need, are there past 50 a trade up becomes something i am very much for. I don't think any last that long, and basically IMO these 6 guys in a different universe make the first round if teams have slightly different needs. They are just as valuable as other guys who went before them.

Realistically though my targets are as follower.

Chris Bell - WR - I was down on him earlier, but after seeing more of his tape i have come around a bit and wouldn't mind him at 63 if he is there.
De'Zhaun Stribling - WR - I like him more than Bell. It is hard to find a guy with his power and speed very often. a 4.36 at 6'2 207lbs... and he plays even bigger than that. Very physical guy. Of all the guys left assuming Boston is gone he'd be my preference for WR.
Jake Golday - LB - One of the best defensive players on the board. A position of need for the future and we are thin here now. Jacob Rodrigeuz be okay too.
Kieonte Scott - DB (If we do pick a potential safety back up CB soon to be starter or whatever Scott be a great guy to just through in.

There are other players i'd pick but need vs value this is my go to board. If all 4 are gone i consider a trade down.

Players I don't want in rd 2. TE (better value later and don't like Stowers or Klare), OT (already got one), RB (no value) DT (we are so stacked already), S(Outside of maybe Scott the value move here is waiting on the position).

I will talk about rd 3 later. Until we do pick talking too much about rd 3 is a little premature. I will say safety looks better at 3. WR dries up. TE starts to look like an option. Edge dries up a lot more. It was top heavy. There are potential specialist though.

At 63 would be happy with anyone of this group but I do think it's likely most will probably be gone. Someone will drop that I couldn't Invision being available and I will lose my mind when they go another direction.

Golday
Jacas
Rodrigeuz
Hunter

My top rated players:

CB Jermod McCoy
DT Kayden McDonald
LB Jake Golday
S Treydan Stukes
LB Jacob Rodriguez
S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
EDGE Dani Dennis-Sutton
EDGE Gabe Jacas
EDGE Keyron Crawford
Nickel/S Keionte Scott
WR Chris Bell
Could Chris Bell make it to our 3rd round pick?

If so I’d love drafting him.

Rodriguez would be my #1, or anyone of the edge, Parker, Howell, Jacas, Moore. If they see another OL they like I'm fine with that. Not big on TE's as a high priority need. Maybe next year if the current group doesn't help. Should we have any reason to think Dippre can play?

Forgot about Lee Hunter. Thanks whybob.
