Assertions are being made on this board that Vrabel has destroyed his credibility with the players, and can no longer coach them on important issues like not creating distractions. If those allegations are true he has undermined his ability to do his job as coach, so the team needs to take action.

What action(s) should be taken to punish him?
This team hates its coach

Wasn't the owner part of some kind of prostitution sting a few years back? Would probably be a bad look to fire a HC for involvment in legal, consentual relations.

Bob Kraft set Mayo up to fail.

Puny spending in FA.
5hit draft besides Maye.
Owner, GM and HC agreed that Brissett would start, he lasted 5 games 1 - 4.

2025 was 180 degrees different than the way Mayo was supported and it translated into wins.

I agree Bob set him up to fail. They spent money on their own players bringing back the same team that got BB fired. I took heat for saying it was massive mistake and almost all of those players are now gone within 2 years. Only Rham, Owenu and Barmore remain which I think at least 2 of them will be gone by 2027.

With that said, Mayo clearly didn't know what he was doing since day 1 with the bizarre press conference. Holding up the massive flash cards in the first pre-season game told me everything I needed to know about his regime. Then you had the rumors of assistant coaches that were interviewing getting uncomfortable because Mayo wouldn't even talk about the job. Him declaring himself the "CEO" and delegate to everyone else. Admitting Maye was outplaying Brissett, yet Brissett was going to be the starter anyway was an amateur move. There's more stuff I'm forgetting.

Aside from the fact that this thread is mostly just unmanly gossip and performative tongue-clucking, there's a broader context viewed in terms of which which it's actually sort of interesting if not actually important.

For a long time, there was a presumption that "sports builds character." In keeping with the old saw that "the Battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton" and with the Classical value of "a sound mind in a sound body" - mens sana in corpore sano - a case has long been made for the inclusion of athletics in our educational institutions, for example. It seems to me that in many, perhaps most, instances these days, the assertion that athletics offers education of character and moral edification is pretty much a sick joke. This makes it quite weird than fans of athletics are so gleefully eager to pontificate from the moral perspective. Perhaps these commentators are more titillated than morally offended.

I'll try to write something less eggheaded next time, but I'm not making any promises: I have my limitations.

This thread is gay

Voting should be made public. I'd love to see who voted to fire his ass....
I voted for Due Process. Investigate then Fire Him. It seemed only fair.

No, it isn't.

The undeniable fact is that there is evidence of an extra-marital affair. I won't say there is proof, but there certainly is evidence, enough evidence to make belief that something happened a very reasonable conclusion.

We also know for a fact that the Missus is a devout Catholic. That is not an assumption; that is a widely reported fact. There are countless articles describing how she brought him back into the fold after he had lapsed during his college days. There are also countless articles about them supporting their local diocese when he was in Tenneessee.

It takes a special type of moron to look at what we know and conclude "hey gee, maybe the devout Catholic wife of 25 years and mother of 2 is perfectly comfortable with an open marriage and polyamorous relationship!!"

By " devout Catholic" you must mean she is totally fine with pedophilia. As anyone who gives money to the largest child molestation organization in human history must be. They certainly know what their money is being used for.

I guess the real thing is did he let slip any Pats info to her, or even Titans info back in the day. That could be the death knell.
You do understand these insiders get all their info from player agents and front office staff, including coaches... right?

Kraft admitted that he unintentionally put Mayo in a terrible position, and took that into account in making his decision on (not) retaining him.

The fundamental reason, though, that Kraft fired Mayo is that Mayo himself didn't show any growth as a coach from the start of the season to the end. The mess with benching Rhamondre near the end of the season was reason enough; there is literally no way to put a positive spin on that "coach's decision" stunt.

We have a much worse problem with pedophilia right now.

The facts are that Kraft was up for the HOF and hiring Mayo looked real good in the DEI world. Especially in Mass. Kraft then doubled down moving a woman in his private sector business into a prominent upper managements NFL position. After Kraft wasnt voted in - again -Mayos days were numbered unless he won with an awful team.

Stevenson fumbled in the game prior to seeing only 2 attempts in game 16. He was out of game 17 vs Buffalo and NE won because Buffalo laid down. Stevenson had 7 fumbles that season and BB would do the same exact thing by benching him.
