Russini & Vrabel Nothing to see here?

To put it simply, marriage in the Church is more "permanent" than other people outside of the Church see it. There's no divorce, you're married for life. So this is a serious serious matter, and maybe I'm just hoping against hope that he didn't do this so it doesn't permanently damage his marriage and relationship with his kids

Respectfully, I know a lot of people who were married in the Catholic Church and later got divorced. While the Catholic Church doesn’t recognize divorce; those people are still legally divorced.

I also more than one wealthy Catholic that used their money to help leverage an annulment- the Catholic marriage loophole that frequently has more to do with connections and privilege than the marriage not meeting the sacramental criteria from the start.

An annulment only invalidates a marriage if it wasn't a legitimate one. You can't just cheat on your spouse and get an annulment. As far as the legal vs Church point you can be legally divorced (not like you can hold the other hostage) but the covenant between man and wife in the Church is only broken by death. If there are priests or bishops granting annulments because they're getting paid enough: 1, that is scandalous and you should report it to the Diocese and 2, it doesn't change the covenant man and wife have--God is not so easily fooled

I appreciate you adding to this, and I take no offense. I only mention this to say that if Vrabel and his family are devout Catholics this isn't just a "Oh well we get divorced and find someone else" situation, he legitimately cannot be in a relationship with another woman for the rest of his life (until, you know, his wife dies).

But! I'm not a priest. Just a laydude

'Not relevant in any defensibly rational respect'? News about the Patriots HC is, by definition, relevant to Patriots fans and potentially the team itself. Will it amount to anything? Maybe not. Has Vrabel done anything ethically wrong? Without knowing the nature of his relationship with his wife, we cannot say.

He may win back a tiny bit of my admiration (TINY) if he got on Twitter and called out his fav Bible verse that describes this infidelity.

Just because it would be hilarious. Something tells me he doesn't have the balls to do it since Vrabel isn't a marginalized person he can make fun of.

He actually should, since Vrabel wanted to go all pedestal about "being educated" maybe he should educate himself on fidelity
