There is a 100% shot Brown won't be a starter in 5 years, while there's a chance the player we drafted will be. That's the tradeoff that has to be weighed.

If various teams offered great value for each of our draft picks, then absolutely we should.
Even if various teams offered great value for each pick, bypassing an entire draft for veterans in year 2 for Vrabel would be awful.
It is a ridiculously unrealistic notion that we are going to trade 10 draft picks for 10 players. Your hypothetical is nonsense.

It's a weird article because after they go on about how it will cost Philly an extra $30 mil in dead cap space by trading him before the 2026 draft, they go on to offer scenarios in which the trade takes place before the draft
It's valid depending on the draft picks used. The above proposed trade of a 1st, 4th and Boutte for Brown and a 6th would be terrible.

Yes, that would be too much. But I do not believe a first rounder is. Brown is the type of player you hope to get with first rounders, and we have the cap to absorb his hit.
