Caeden wallace

Larison and Lampe are two more who were "kept" but on IR so obviously got less development. Curious what role Lampe plays since they signed a true blue fullback in Gilliam. Do they roster two, or does Lampe become more of a tight end/"halfback"? Westover is still kicking around as well.
We could roster a 3rd TE/LB, either Westover or Lampe or Dippre. Alternatively, any of them could end up on the Practice Squad.
My hope is that none of them make the 53 and that we draft a TE to be active with Henry and Hill (and Gilliam).

Do you expect us to draft an IOL with one of our first five picks?

We have 6 OL's (starters plus Brown).

We will surely draft an OT, and either draft a second OT or keep Bryant.
=================
You expect us to also draft an IOL who will replace Wallace. Perhaps, perhaps not. I'm certainly fine with drafting an IOL, but these six positions seem to be of higher priority.
OT
EDGE
S
2nd EDGE
ILB
TE

If they draft someone in the 6th round Wallace will need to beat him out.

Unless Wallace steps up, they will prefer to work with a rookie, maybe even if he has less overall promise.

Maybe Wallace turns it around. Guys do. They cut at least one third year player too early last year who came out of nowhere and was valuable. Anfernee Jennings I think one year did it. Maybe that's why they kept Wallace, deciding to give him one more chance in camp to show who he is after their mistake.

I am rooting for Wallace. It would be great to have a top swing lineman. , But right now it's a peek and he's a likely cut.

some of the IOL are ranked as low 2nd rounders on consensus boards
a 2nd or 3rd round IOL would be a shock. although it seems possible if we don't get an OT at 31 and then wait until the 4th for the OT or two.

Nothing until late in the year (ST) and then nothing at all from Week 18 on:

I know you're a huge fan of "(insert player here) stinks", but you have to hope that they can develop Wallace further and at least get him on the depth chart. They absolutely need depth. Just because a guy isn't a top-tier player, role players often become important, and they need help there. And that goes across the board.
He'll probably be released before TC Ian. Even the Rookie Marcus Bryant saw some playing time early before he was relegated to the Inactive list. Caedan Wallace is not a NFL player fools gold: how Penn State masked his deficiencies is nothing short of incredible.

Again, we'll see. But either way, they need help there. Bryant saw a lot of time on ST last year, so the hope is that he'll take a step forward. But he can't be the only one because Lowe played ST last year as well in addition to starting, and he's gone. Munford also contributed, and they haven't brought him back. So we have to hope some of the guys who have been hanging around develop, and rather than rooting against him, sort of have to hope the guy gets past the injuries and finds himself a role.

I'm rooting for Marcus Bryant and a Day 3 Rookie Tackle developing and being our Swing Tackles.

Schrager has 8 OT going in rd1 (and 6 WR) before #31.
if that Pats over reach at OT too soon, thats how they got here with Wallace.
they know Bowry pretty well (OB and Marrone) but will he be there in rd4? is he an over reach in rd 3?

We have a Ton of Day 3 picks to find some bodies better than you know...

The 2024 draft was a freakin disaster after Maye.

Sometimes we forget that they're human beings.

I'm sure there are plenty of players who learn quickly that they're going to be marginal unless they worked their butts off, and got beat up so they don't live a normal life.

I'm not saying anyone, just giving examples, but guys like Sidney Sow, Wallace, one of the Robinsons, and that sixth round pick looked better early. It must be a factor.

Guys like Bill Murray and Ferentz loved it.

So your rooting for Marcus Bryant and a round 4-7 OT rookie with a career 19 offense snaps between them to start at RT in case Moses gets injured. Got it.

What is too soon?

Do you believe Schrager? If 8 OT's are worthy of a 1st round pick, then I think that we should get one. If Vrabel needs to move up to get a better choice, then he should. Of course, all of the 8 are not likely to be on Vrabel's first round board.

If we don't get one of the 8 1st round quality OT's, the I agree that we shouldn't reach with our 2nd pick. The late 3rd through the 4th would seem to be a reasonable spot to draft an OT, or even an IOL or a 2nd OT.

Don’t forget free agency, Wolf signed three free agent offensive linemen who all got cut before the disastrous season was even over.

With the amount of former players that have podcasts now we get more insight than ever into being an NFL player and one of my biggest takeaways is often they talk about someone they played with that had something going on off-field. Lavonte David was on some podcast the other day talking about Vernon Hargreaves who was a top 10 pick for the Bucs a while back. David mentioned how athletic Hargreaves was and how much potential he had but some off-field stuff and disagreements with the coaching staff derailed his career. I always wonder how many guys would have succeeded under different circumstances (coaching staffs, organizations, teammates, etc) but things just didn't work out for them.

As soon as they drafted him and that guard and startling shuffling them all around that O-line with Mayo and Van Pelt running that mess I knew they were doomed.

Reset. Get new 3rd and 4th round guards and tackle and this time let them play the position they were playing in college before trying to explore some versatility. College coaches know a thing or two as well.

The weekly musical chairs nonsense got old very fast. I honestly forgot about wallace haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Outside of Maye that was a disastrous draft. It produced on of the few former Patriots I refuse to root for in Jalynn Polk.

How did he reach that point? I've gotten there with a couple of people, but normally those players are just a—holes.

TBF, though, it helped bring the Mayo error to about as short an end as one could have expected, so there is that. . . . Imagine last year if Mayo had somehow gone, say, 7–10 in 2024 and convinced Kraft to give him one more year.

I think few people grasp that the "Mayo error" and Wolf having a really bad free agency cycle and draft, and then Vrabel coming on board and suddenly the draft and free agency are home runs, are not a coincidence.

Wolf holds some responsibility, but I have to guess it was very hard to sell free agents on the idea of playing for Mayo who very clearly had no idea what he was doing, to come move to Foxboro and pay higher taxes as well. It also seemed like Kraft may not have wanted to go "all in" with the cash for Mayo like he was for Vrabel who was more of a sure bet. In the draft, there's also a relationship - the front office needs to know what types of players to target from a scheme/personality fit standpoint, and I am sure Mayo was not giving much or any feedback in that regard, so Wolf was likely left to just wing it and clearly was reaching to draft for need, which as we know didn't work out.

It's not necessarily that Vrabel and Cowden magically taught Wolf how to do his job (although I am sure there was some level of that) but also that they actually allowed the team to become a marketable destination and helped guide the front office on what to target so everyone was operating in sync.
