Breer: Vrabel says the Pats will approach the offseason getting younger, cheaper, & better options

What about the Mahome's that won two super bowls in between?
Right.. so let me ask you the same question wich Mahomes? The one from last season or the season before In wich they lost?

There it is... some still think Mahomes is the guy who took the league by storm in 2017.. he's not that level of QB anymore.. by all means still great.. however Josh Allen is still the most lethal threat especially being a division opponent.. we benefit from having Brady and other teams dreaded facing us in an elimination game..
Some still think Allen is the the guy who took the league by storm in 2022, he's not that level of QB anymore, by all means still great.

To me Mahomes' perceived decline is a function of the OL in front of him and throwing to WRs like JJSS. The last couple of years he has been forced to improvise too often which ended up catching up with him. The only question is how he recovers from the knee injury. Otherwise he is still a QB who is super bowl caliber if he has a decent team around him.

Agreed. Now another issue is Andy Reid is the play caller.. in my humble opinion I don't like when head coaches call plays.. allow the OC or DC that you hired exhibit thier talents.. as it totally negates the job of a coordinator.. in saying this.. Reid still was calling plays as it hill, hunt and a prime kelsey were still all on the field together 7, 8 year's ago.

Mahomes absolutely is still a top 5 QB however he's not the guy we saw a few years ago.. Josh Allen has done more over the course of his career similar to Brady more with less talent around him. Look at what Burrow has... what Lamar has had.. Stafford has had...

The difference here is Allen hasn't had a regression in his game Mahomes has... also Allen has a dominant running game and dominant offensive mammoth offensive line to run behind.. Mahomes and Allen both are still top 5 QB'S however for me personally I'd feel better about Vrabel devising a game plan to beat Mahomes then that of Allen.. again Tommy this is just my opinion as a fan and a poster..

I think I would pick Mahomes.

It seems as if Reid has lost his fastball. He may well be a victim of the talent. Compared to a player, the coaches do not get the benefit of the doubt.

Point me to where Patrick Mahomes had 7 turnovers in 2 playoff games.

It’s hard and gets harder after your QB signs his first big contract after his rookie deal. Like most deals Mahome’s contract was backloaded where they pushed a lot of his cap debt down the road. That’s coming home to roost now. It’s true of Allen in Buffalo as well.

Andy Reid handled it really well, he traded Tyreek for a boatload of picks instead of paying him a league leading WR contract. He let his LT Orlando Brown walk for a massive contract elsewhere, along with most of his secondary. They won 2 more Super Bowls. I’d call that a win. Since then they have struggled to replace players, they just traded their All Pro CB so maybe a gaggle of draft picks will change their fortunes.

Drake Maye on a rookie deal annually accounts for roughly 3% of the team cap. A highest paid QB costs 20% or more of their team’s annual cap. It’s much easier to excel when you have a stud like Mahomes, Allen or Drake taking up 3% of your cap… a lot harder when he takes up a quarter of your total cap spending.

It’s really simple, it’s the ability to spend on players outside of the QB…. but people attribute it to a QB falling off or not playing as well, or a coach losing his fastball. It’s the cap, you can’t just buy teams. The NFL has a hard cap, whether the “cap doesn’t exist” guys accept it or not. A stud rookie QB is a cheat code… after you pay him and the cap charge catches up to you it gets difficult.

Agree. Allen still looks good, but he needs help. The fact that he put up 27 and 30 points in both playoff games with the crap he has surrounding him at WR/TE is something else. He needs at least two dependable WR's and help at every level of the defense. The Bills have let this go for far too long and NE will fix the OL before the Bills address all their needs. He's also got a first year HC who the fans didn't even like as the OC.

And I remember all those non-Patriots fans who pointed out all of Tom Brady's so called "regressions" starting around year 11 or 12, and 3 superbowls and 4 appearances in 5 years LATER Max was still being roasted for his "cliff remark almost a decade AFTER he made it.

If...Your Zack Kurh... or your Vance Joseph who makes you go deep in your bag to devise an effective game plan to stop.. if your honest your saying Josh Allen... this version of Mahomes isn't the guy you're thinking of.

Agreed, Reid has done a great job with KC. It shows how amazing the Pats sustained success really was. My comment on him was trying to make the point that players on bad teams get recognized for their play on the field, coaches end up taking the blame.

The Jets would like a word with you about the simple part... Having more money only provides access to a larger talent pool, you still need to find the right players. As dollars shrink the margin for error gets very small, the inevitable caught up with KC and contributed to the end of the Pats dynasty.

Your right Ken... Mahomes and Allen are modern day QBs... throw Drake in there as well.. Stafford is part of the old guard where Brady was of course part of.. Brady in his own words..had such an insatiable desire to win... that drove him..

As Brady was a field general and won with his accuracy and football IQ.. like Stafford.. as Allen, Mahomes high IQ guys as well but when they entered the league it was the generation of the athletic QB who could get outside the pocket when the play broke down and make something out of nothing.. it's impressive what these guys are all able to do in this league.

Josh Allen reverted into the turnover machine he was when he first entered the league. There have been no fundamental changes to go back to the efficient offense he ran there for a couple of years.

I have no idea what you people were watching.

Josh is still the best in the AFCE, until he's not.
Everyone here has seen him, he's fkn really good.
If Drake is going to be better, I'll be happy to see it.

Again... in a championship game.. with it all on the line.. who does Zack Kurh have more problems with a duel threat QB or a still good but not the same guy coming of a major knee injury to have to game plan for.. I'm referring to the current state of things not the Mahomes some of you are day dreaming of..

Absolutely spot on.. and to explain things on my end.. we had a young elite QB that has risen and put himself in the conversation of top 10 maybe even top 5.. Mahomes has been amazing guy a championship QB and proven winner.. however Mahomes has regressed the last 2 seasons everyone saw it and everyone knows it.. also don't forgot Mahomes has had injuries over the past few seasons as well.. wich may have comprised him physically.. Allen hasn't had the rings but presents more of a challenge physically to stop.. if Zack kurh were being brutally honest he'd admit Josh Allen is a more difficult guy to stop.
