Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Because they want to build a contender for the next 5 years and not mortgage early round talent for 1-2 years, at least that is what I think.
Thats exactly what they are doing. They are thinking 10 plus years down the line.

An angry vet taking up that much of your salary cap is leverage. They dealt with a disgruntled Brown all season long... they don't want to do it again, otherwise he wouldn't be on the trade block at all.
Same could be considered if this vet gets traded to a team he doesn’t want to go to.

Denver been linked to AJ

Ya and if you trade him, he hurts you even more. The salary is the same and now you cannot afford his replacement. They are willing to do it again. They are just seeking a better option.

AJ is not going to be a patriot. Elliot and Vrabel do not operate that way.
He is going to be traded to a non patriots team.

Elliot prefers to sign long snappers and special team safeties who are friends with Vrabel.

That's foolish. It'll be amazing if there are 4 plays on the team right now still here in 5 years.

He's made his money... he could simply hold out, or even tell the team trying to trade for him he will.

It's addition by subtraction. The same way Vrabel says he wants players who want to be here. At some point the headache is not worth it.

If the Pats trade for Brown will he be here in 5 years?

How about the players drafted with those picks?

I don't care. Its not a lock and the Eagles don't need to trade him. Its just one possibility.

Both PHI and NE will be prepared for the possibility that AJ will be traded after June 1st.

And life goes on. For now, both teams are focused on the draft.

People who are hyping up the 27 draft have very short memories. IIRC in the run up to the 25 draft, everyone was complaining how that draft class was thin on first round level picks, and how the 26 draft was going to be SOOOO much better. It should also be pointed out that one of the reasons that the 27 draft is so hyped is that there are 5 QB's who are supposed to be top 10 picks in that draft. Last year guys like Nussbaum and Manning were supposed to be top 5 picks in this draft. Manning went back to Texas where he can improve and likely make as much money as a rookie in the NFL, and Nussbaum had injury issues and will likely be a 2nd or 3rd day pick So you never know who will get hurt, who will go back, or who simply craps out in a future draft.

As to Brown, we had the 3rd best offense, and the 4th best passing attack and were in the top 10 in scoring with the group we are so desperate improve on. To me he would be a wonderful luxury. It would be greatl to have him, but it won't be the end of the world if it doesn't happen.

Philly isn't going to get the bag they have been calling for, especially after the draft. Plus they need AJ if they want to improve THEIR offense and contend. When the offers drop to 2nd day levels, I believe Howie will come to the conclusion that they will be better off keeping him. They already lost one WR so far

It’d be very disappointing if there are not more than that.

Any rookie from last year that makes a second contract with the team will likely be here in five years. Hendo, Campbell, Woodson look like they’ll be worth keeping that long. That’s three, hopefully there will be more. Plus Drake Maye and Gonzo, that’s over your four already. Haven’t mentioned any other youngsters, STers or FAs we just got, where one or two could be good enough to stick around if they’re not greedy. Remember, one of the goals Vrabes set for himself as a coach is to get his players to where they sign their second contracts.

All teams are "non patriots teams" Sam.
So tell us how you know all of this, please enlighten us. The last line of your post is so childish..

Nope. Brown would be a 2 year guy without any restructuring. As soon as Mayes deal kicks in he’s gone.

Picks as you are aware are a crap shoot. Maybe, maybe not. You’re hoping that if you draft a WR with one of those that you’re getting a cost controlled AJ Brown or you’re getting a cost controlled EDGE rusher. The reality is that there are a lot more N’Keal Harry’s in the first round than not.
