Patriots Hall of Famer Cole Strange signing with the Chargers

Strange would have cost the Patriots 16.7 million dollars to pick up his 5th year option.

I don't know if Wallace is better because outside of Maye that 2024 draft class looks pretty sus but I'm pretty he was a significantly cheaper option than Strange.
I believe that Strange was in his 4th year. We didn't need to pick up his 5th year option for him to play his 4th year for us.

Mcvay is probably laughing at this signing

He obviously wasn't anywhere close to worthy of his draft status, as some here noted as soon as the pick was made; but he would've been a better - much better - choice to start at LG for us this past year than the Volleyball was.

Your snarky sarcastic headline isn't funny. Strange didn't choose himself as a first-rounder, ask to be injured or waived. If anything the guy deserves credit for picking up the pieces and making a career of it. More power to him.

Players have options also, they can become a distraction, grouse in the media or outright decide to sit out with a “hamstring” injury that magically gets better the moment financial security appears.

I suspect Strange and his agent told the Patriots they wanted out and Vrabel specifically said he wanted players “who want to be here.”

These guys aren’t slaves…

The irony is many of the same people suggesting this ^ were pushing for this year’s team to draft a guard in nearly the same position… the very end of the first round.

If he never got injured, he’d have been a four year automatic starter and we’d be paying him instead of whining about the draft pick. A good starting lineman is worth the pick. Nobody can predict injuries.
