Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

Doubs is not Jerry Rice. Not even close. This is a straw man argument.
I agree.
But don't we already have plenty of potential #2 quality wideouts with the likes of Boutte, Hollins, and Kyle Williams?
I disagree.

Boutte does not get off the line like Doubs and create separation. This coaching staff is looking for man coverage beaters. That is why they drafted K Williams who is great getting off the LOS. Boutte wins with contested catches and his amazing hands, which is different than Doubs.

Hollins wins with strength and height. Not anything like Doubs.

K Williams is the most like Doubs which isn't surprising because the same coaches picked them. I have not looked at it in detail, but my impression is that Doubs is more of a quick twitch intermediary guy, and Williams is more of a speed slant and go guy.

I think with Doubs, Williams, a slot receiver (maybe Chism), and a true #1 (which we do not have), we would have a GREAT WR group.

I love all the people complaining about the guardian caps

Why don’t you go bash your head against something and create the conditions where you lose your mental faculties by 50, and then we’ll talk

How is it what we already have?
Who was the middle of the field medium depth guy?
I haven't seen Boutte be that guy.
KW will be used more downfield I'm sure.
Hollins can run middle routes, but not consistently.
I think Doubs fills a very necessary, needed spot.

Right on the money. All I hear is shrieking about a "#1" when in truth that's not how receiving corps are built, rather they are built to exploit every are of the field. All of these guys will be the " #1" on different play calls, that's how this offense is built.

Typical WR move by this team. Miss out on all the coveted ones up for grabs and then settle for a mid tier option or a project coming off an injury.

Who were those " coveted ones" in this free agency? Pierce re-signed before free agency started, so who were the other ones?

Marginal in every one except catches.

I realize you think Boutte is a 2 but he ain't.

It's not all over the place to say that if Doubs is worth 17 mil than so is Boutte and no way the pats are paying him that. Zero chance.
Dude you've been flip flopping like mad, one minute you don't like Doubs because we have lots of WR2 already and now you're saying Boutte isn't a 2? Moaning that Doubs isn't a 1 when he isn't being paid like one.

They did very well in FA and the draft last year and they clearly think Doubs can make a step up in production to the next level. He has good hands, is a great route runner, creates a lot of separation and seems like a good guy so whilst i do see why some see this as a bit underwhelming in terms of his current production if you look deeper there is more than enough there to be optimistic that this is a good signing.

You are beyond stupid. You wanted to sign Calvin Ridley to a bigger deal than Doubs signed 2 years ago, and he sucks ass.
Calvin Ridley was a better player 2 years ago than Doubs is right now.

WTF are you talking about? They signed him to a big deal and he still went nuts. Is there an ******* WR you don't want to sign?
Well it comes with the territory. If you want very good WR you’ll have to deal with them being diva and/or nuts most probably

Double doubs same affect with Diggs, shut down and virtually shut out in playoffs. That's the Hump the Patriots have to get over.

He took a year off to clear his head and the steng of the 9ers off him...he's clean now.

Brandon Aiyuk is the stank on the 49ers.

You actually want them to give 10's of millions of dollars to a guy who just got 10's of millions of dollars then refused to go to work. It just doesn't get any dumber than that. Why not just sign Henry Ruggs for 80 million, you will get the same production, and Ruggs is in prison,

Not doing it without a true play maker. The closest thing to that on this team is Henderson. Doubs getting 800 yards as the number one WR isn’t doing that

Calvin Ridley was a better player 2 years ago than Doubs is right now.

in 2024 - Ridley caught 64 of 120 passes for 1017 yards and 4 TDs on 888 offensive snaps

In 2025 - Doubs caught 55 of 85 passes for 724 yards and 6 TDs on 780 offensive snaps.

So, Ridley got more snaps and more targets, but caught a fewer percentage of passes and had fewer TD.

If Doubs had as many targets as Ridley did, he'd have had 77 receptions and 1013 yards.. But also 8 TDs.. That shows them to be pretty comparable..

For sure.
People get too hung up on assigning a guy a number and usually they equate a #1 to an outside X.
So I guess that means Williamson is Dets #1 and not St. Brown.

The Titans had ****ty QB play last I remember. Wasn't it Will Levis who's not Jordan Love so Ridley have an excuse.

Those who live in glass house shouldn't throw stones...the Lions Top 3 WR's are centuries better than ours; spare me the Rubbish. Yess and Jameson Williams is a #1 WR but keep cheating yourself on his production and average because Romeo Doubs is a identical player.

I don't think it's going to happen but I would love for A.J. Brown to the Patriots to see a lot of you spin doctors change your tunes. I'll be getting my popcorn ready.

If we upgrade at TE and at slot, I think we have a good receiver corps.

but it should be said that Edelman was better than all receivers we have now, and Gronk was, for all intents and purposes, our #1 guy, and a elite one at that.

It's difficult to win in the playoff is the guys running the field cant creat plays. This 2025 playoffs is more than enough proff, Seahawks and even Denver threw us off because not one guy could escape their coverages

I hope we draft a TE early, and then get another shot at a Douglas/Chism upgrade in later rounds
