Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

Fun fact - since Davante Adams left 5 years ago, the Packers haven’t had ANY receiver crack ~800 yards. So you scoff at his stats, but those are #1 WR stats in Green Bay’s offense.
That's pretty sad. But Green Bay's offense used to regularly have 1K+ plus WRs every year. Is their new OC that bad?

It's Meh signing and more of what the Pats already have.
How is it what we already have?
Who was the middle of the field medium depth guy?
I haven't seen Boutte be that guy.
KW will be used more downfield I'm sure.
Hollins can run middle routes, but not consistently.
I think Doubs fills a very necessary, needed spot.

Everyone that is so upset that we haven’t signed a #1 receiver the last two days, last week I looked at the list of free agent receivers and I’m not sure there were any, Pickens is probably the best receiver on the list and the Cowboys franchised him. So who were they supposed to sign to be the #1 receiver.

What does Doubs bring that Hollins and Boutte don't already do better?

Hollins is a 6'4 possession WR. Boutte is a downfield threat who averaged 16.7 yards per catch.

Doubs is a 6'2 possession WR who averaged 13 ypc for 724 yards. He's not a talent upgrade on Diggs. He just doesn't have legal troubles.

This just feels like a downgrade to Diggs overall. But technically he is 'younger and cheaper.'

Triumph said adding Doubs is more of what we have.
It is not.
He fill Diggs role and will be better RZ threat, Diggs is gone.
He fills a role that needed filling.

He's not a number 2.

Maybe on a **** team.

It doesn't take a lot to walk through those doors and be better than Boutte and pop Douglas.

That doesn't mean a whole lot to me.
Steve smith just said he could be a number 1 with volume. He went on to give 6-8 reasons why he is a great 2.
What is your reasons he is not even a 2. I am not being sarcastic. I just want to hear your side of the argument in facts and not because he wears a halo or has never broke 1000 yds

I hate this signing.. Gee great another guy that isnt a #1
He’s not being paid to be a 1. With Josh’s system of throwing to the open receiver we really don’t scheme a WR1 like other teams do. We just need receivers who can understand the playbook and run good routes with good hands. Each receiver has strengths in different parts of the field. He did that in GB, similar to Digg’s role last year. Now we need a TE that fits and we are getting the right type of players for the system. As the saying goes you build with the right type of players not through names or popularity.

Great post. I had the same thought. Don't know if it is right.

This fan base is friggin' insane.... WHO was the "#1 receiver" available at a reasonable price in this free agency?
Pierce resigned with Indy. Pickens franchised. AJ Brown extortion (and not available till post June 1 anyway).

Every other available wide receiver is a questionable No. 1 - Aiyuk, jennings, rasheed....

The fact is there WAS NO TRUE No. 1 READILY AVAILABLE, so the team reasonably went for a solid No. 2 at this point in time.

A number one at 17 mil a season?

Is the rest of the NFL stupid?

He can potentially be a number 2 behind AJ. Remains to be seen.

LOL. I'm old enough to know that sometimes a number is more than a number, however much we might wish otherwise.
I'm going on record, feel free to grudgepost me with this.

Doubs will exceed Diggs' production from 2025 (assuming no AJ Brown or Olave add, of course). Book it.
That might be a little optimistic, but I would bet that Doubs' number will be better than Diggs' numbers this year. I also think that Doubs' upside potential, though likely not huge, is greater than Diggs' at this point inhis c areer. I have heard too that Doubs has a high "football IQ," which might suggest he's a good fit for Josh's sophisticated offense. The more I think about this acquisition, the better I like it.

I don't at all mean to disparage Diggs, by the way. He was a real asset this year. I wish him well, and I think there are aspects of his play and manner we will miss.

It doesn't remain to be seen.
He can be and is a number 2, put up #2 numbers last year.
He was GBs leading receiver without a legit #1, so how is he not a number 2 here?

Not really.
It is.

It's the same every off season. If Romeo wS all that GB wouldn't allow him to leave. He doesn't move the needle in fact NE is weaker at WR since Diggs is gone.
