Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

I fekkin' told you MONTHS ago this was the guy. MONTHS. He's a money ball ball type signing. He's going to get you 1000 yards at $10m per year less money than Alec Pierce. Maybe half the $$.

I told you this was the way.
Piss me Off!!

Just watched a ton of tape on Doubs from last year. I'm now "High on Doubie!
I had no preconceived notions on Doubs going in, just hoped on tape he didn't suck.

-He's now the Pats best receiver, don't think it's close.
-Reminded me SO much if Diggs in 2025 on tape with more quickness.
-Has Diggs like knack for finding holes in zones which nobody but Diggs on the Pats had at WR in 2025.
-Perfect complement to Boutte as not a natural deep threat (though with Maye I expect more success there)
-If AJ Brown comes on in June it'll be a killer wr core
-Excellent feet, uses it well to get off press coverage, really good at top of routes using his feet to make cuts and get open.
-Was open more regularly than any Pats receiver in 2025. He gets open quite regularly
-One play he pointed out a blitzer from CB and cut off his own route, which Pop Douglas somehow can't comprehend still to this day
-This is a no brainer positive to get a good #2 receiver with the age and upside to be a mid to low end #1.
-75% of receptions in 2025 and 70%+ career were for first down (Diggs was 60% 2025 and career)
-His RZ TD's are not mainly from size but from quickness, can't overestimate the surprising foot movement for a bigger guy.
-Had a couple bad drops vs Giants but generally showed excellent hands.
-Very good on scramble plays as he keeps moving looking for openings
-Has had 2 NFL concussions, 1 while wearing the guardian helmet he still wears.
-Suspended in 2024 for missing practices due to a personal issue and not communicating to team he would be absent
-Overall described as quiet, hardworking type.
-Packers fans describe him as a good #2 receiver that was Loves security blanket on third down.
-Glad to say he looks like a really good replacement for Diggs, with upside. LOVE to pair him with AJ Brown.....

Oof. Do not like this signing at that cap number. He seems like a JAG.

My only logical explanation for the “who needs a #1” regression is they plan to load up on athletic TE’s in the draft. Otherwise, I don’t see the team being better today than it was in February.

There are some interesting WR’s throughout the draft. Gotta take some swings there too.

I would prefer to keep Pop over Boutte.

I feel like Diggs was taking over Pop's slot role and with him gone that should help give Pop more opportunities.

Boutte made some highlight reel catches but can he be relied upon consistently?

They are absolutely very close to being a better team than they were last year.. Line is shored up, and now a Diggs replacement.

Oh hell no. Pop has near zero football IQ. Hell to the no. Boutte is 10x the player Pop is and it's not even close.

Vera Tucker is not someone you can say “shored up” the line. He’s torn both triceps, a peck, and an achilles in 4 seasons. Massive injury risk.

Doubs is a 3/4 they just paid as a #2.

Puzzling approach.

That said, most of last year’s pickups hit so maybe they have the “touch”.

I don't think DC's are going to be focusing too much on stopping the receivers. Nobody keeps them up at night.

Boutte was concussed after that Great start... He was on the verge to Breakout!!
I agree, Boutte has the talent to be a very good receiver. Unfortunately for him, he misses a decent amount of games.

Well we disagree. How hard is it to run an out route? Pop is taking the same routes that Edlman and Welker ran.

He can recognize a blitz coming, but still will go out on his normal route. Not great.

Dobbs or Jennings were my preference after Pierce and I think we have another guy who will benefit from Maye's accuracy, because he's not bad now.

We'll see how many targets he gets but he could come close to Diggs' percentage.

I don't care if hes a 2,3,or 4 just as long as he gets open and moves the sticks

Watching his highlights for the first time a bit ago one thing I do like is how he is consistent in the red zone, something we need. Not gonna comment on the contract like I said never watched his stuff except for a highlight video from this last year.
