Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

And what was wrong with last year when we were a top 3 passing attack? What is WRONG with you people?
Talking to the Cult sometimes….

This would be interesting, and would tell me we’d probably give them one of Douglas/Boutte in a package.

This is the other thing.
It doesn't preclude them going after AJ Brown. Not in the slightest.

What it DOES do is fill the role they needed to fill, and does it well. They can absolutely afford AJ Brown if it comes down to it. There's still plenty of cap room.

This is a pretty solid signing - 4 years, $70M equates to about $17M APY. Pretty decent value for a good WR2 which is what he is. He doesn't solve the WR1 problem, but there were no answers to that problem on the free agent market. He does make the room better brings them a player type that they needed, and should operate well with Maye. He was effectively Green Bay's WR1 last year for much of the season due to injuries and performed well. If Kyle Williams and Kayshon Boutte take a step then the room should be in decent shape, but still in need of one elite player at the top, most likely

It's an excellent signing. Look what people are getting. You don't want him as #1, but they're not done. Guys become available, and now they aren't desperate.

It's not an overpay in the slightest.
It does set Boutte's market though.

2/6/Boutte for Brown.

I'm not going to fault a guy for wanting to protect his head, but those things look ****ing ridiculous, especially on a wide receiver.
Sure, but when the other guy is out with a concussion and he isn't...Olave should have worn this since college.

I agree with those that said this spells the end of Boutte after this season.

Steve Smith believes he can be a WR1

Doubs has shown potential when he ran circles around Gilmore in the 2023 Wild Card game. That was a game I thought it was his coming out party. Problem is that he shows flashes, but disappears putting up mediocre numbers since. There were plenty of **** talking on this board regarding GB's WR's, but now all of the sudden it's cool because one of them signed with NE. Funny how that works.

With that said, this is a massive overpay and I dread the guardian cap.

8/11 for 124 yards a 1TD in one playoff game this year

meanwhile diggs was

14/20 for 110 yards and 1 TD in 4 playoff games this year.

So that's a positive at least.

I’ve liked Doubs since pre draft. He’s not a #1 receiver, but he’s a good receiver who is only 25. He’s 6’2”, 200 pounds, and runs an under 4.5 40. My only concern is his injury history. But he produces, has good hands (big hands too, 10” hands !). And knows how to get open. And apparently Brown could still be on the table.

Karen saying it makes it good as gold, she's pretty plugged in. I agree, I think any trade would include a WR going back.

I still hate giving up on Boutte. But this move makes it one I could live with, even if I'm still occasionally angry about it.

I understand, but if Philly is going to eat 40 million, and leave a position open, it doesn't make sense to them.

The could take Boutte and do good things.

Why do you keep saying a 3rd option?
He was GBs leading WR last year.
He is a solid #2 and his contract is inline with that.
No one is pretending he’s a number 1.

He's a number 3 is why I keep saying it.

They should have thought of that before they let Nick Sirianni alienate their locker room.

If we have to choose between going big on Brown or another WR1,
vs. filling the holes at TE...

I'm thinking TE is more pressing

Christ. I’ll take receiver help but that’s a lot of money for a B-tier receiver.

Hope that’s not our plan for next season and there’s an extra shoe to drop.
