Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

My issue never really has been with the player so much as it has been with the trade compensation going back.

He's just not worth a first round pick. And everyone involved on both teams know that, so we get to do this dance - and the fear is some dumbass team swoops in out of nowhere and gives Philly their asking price.
Agreed.. I'm starting to believe Roseman may be coming to the realization... a 2nd absolutely... we still have to consume his contract.. unless Philly agrees to eat some of it.. but nonetheless he's what we need.. he's proven and has superbowl pedigree... amidst all the other BS surrounding why he's on the block one thing about him that Is going unnoticed is he has the C on this jersey he's a captain.

Shows he still has leadership abilities..

Bottom line, we have major weaknessss at WR, TE and OLine and they are not addressing it. Considering they are SO BAD at drafting and cultivating receivers, the idea of drafting WRs and TEs and HOPING they can fill holes year 1, is a recipe for disaster. They aren’t doing Drake Maye any favors, this is going to hurt Maye’s development, hopefully not to a Mac Jones level.

A year ago Vrabel inherited the worst team in football. A month ago they were in the Super Bowl. Now they suck and don't know what they are doing.

One of the following us true:

A) Mike Vrabel doesn't know what he is doing, he sucks.

B) Some fans don't know what they are talking about, they suck.

Take your pick.

Pats need to take him the Ground Round, get him some Clam Chowder, a few beers and ask him point blank "What's going on in your head?" or something like that.
Ah.. the OL ground round.. I used to like the ground round... I hear the chowda is much better down the cape...

I wish Ground Round were still a thing.
But it is, one opened in Shrewsbury Mass within the last year, a couple from Shrewsbury grew up going to the Ground Round, they contacted the Ground Round and informed them they would like to open a franchise, they were approved, previously there were only four left in the country, three in North Dakota and one in Ohio.

Absolutely agree spot on huck! Preach!!

No issues, I loathe that DBag as well.

Just cause they need to move him doesn’t mean they have to rush a deal. They can hold onto him well beyond after the draft.

There will be a point of diminishing returns for them. If they wait post draft, they will likely get less than they will now. Many teams will not have the cap room to acquire him. Many teams will draft a WR high. And they will get 2027 picks that are worth less. They really have to trade him before the draft or during the first round to get max value.

Also, the longer they drag this out, the more likely the Pats and other teams move on. The Pats need to replace Diggs and upgrade their receivers. They may just move onto plan B like trading for Brian Thomas or Jordan Addison.

The Eagles definitely have more leverage, but the leverage is fleeting. At some point, they either have to trade him or decide to keep him because they missed their window to get max value. That point is draft day. But it could be sooner depending on what other teams do.

If I’m Philly I’m now holding onto Brown and am in no rush to trade him. They have all the leverage against NE or any other team interested in him.

So the Patriots can't sign, trade for, or draft a receiver?

AJ Brown is the only way to improve at receiver?

I have no idea who this guy is, but I figured I’d post it.

Wilson had 78 receptions for 1,006 yards and 7 TDs last year.

I actually was too. I love a FB. Less so with Jones but Vrabes has earned my trust.
He’s known as a great blocker and a great pass blocker. Best signing ever the day.

Winner, we have a winner

Boy, Diggs really must have pissed off some folks over there....that Boat incident, the charges of assault, and probably (my guess only)was involved in the Stripper/Hooker stuff after hours at that restaurant.

Who’s left to sign that’s a free agent? Who are they drafting at 31 that’s going to have a day 1 impact?

I’m not saying I’d give up a first but if this team went into the season with its current WR corps and a rookie or two that would be
Major fail while developing a young promising QB.
I’d rather improve the OL. We will be better with a better ol than more WRs. Maye is that good if he gets time.

Who said the Pats would stay at 31? They could trade up.
