While I value the service they provide at Footlocker on the weekdays, I'm inclined to agreeMake them full time. It’s that simple.
Actually it would. You're asking guys with other jobs to call great games on Sundays. You get what you pay for. That will solve nothing.
And your evidence for this is what? How great the officiating is in baseball and basketball?Actually it would. You're asking guys with other jobs to call great games on Sundays. You get what you pay for.
Let me help you understand it: For all the complaining, we are all gonna watch anyway, and they know it. So there's simply no incentive to worry about improving the product.Never will understand a trillion dollar enterprise cheaping out at a position that has so much impact on the product. Crazy.
It isn’t just fans to consider. Part time refs (think low pay) impact sports books. THAT is a cash cow.Let me help you understand it: For all the complaining, we are all gonna watch anyway, and they know it. So there's simply no incentive to worry about improving the product.
In MHO thats when all this lousy officiating started, the last time the reffs struck and the replacements stepped in. It was all down hill after that.Bring back the replacement refs! They were awesome.
A bad call is just as likely to help a sportsbook as hurt one, so that consideration is a wash.It isn’t just fans to consider. Part time refs (think low pay) impact sports books. THAT is a cash cow.
Agreed. May even make things worse. That will solve nothing.
Interesting point. But, snd I admit this is conspiracy ish, low paid refs would seem ripe for bad actors to pay off.A bad call is just as likely to help a sportsbook and hurt one, so that consideration is a wash.
Agreed.... which is why the Refs' union is so much more powerful than the Players.Agreed. May even make things worse.
I'd prefer they not be full-time. That puts them completely under Roger's thumb. The way it is now they have plenty of non-NFL income so he has far less of a lever over them than they would if they were full-time.
