Pats won’t spend $22 million on Linderbaum as their center when they’ve got their likely next starting center on the roster at rookie pay for another three years, and if he doesn’t pan out they’ve got their fallback plan signed for the next two years at $2.5 million a year.
33 is probably the starting point. They’ll pick up his 5th year option for 2027, so the new money won’t start until 2028. That extra year of cap inflation alone explains the jump from 31 to 33.
He has taken enough scary headshots.
Yeah and it’s going to be a bad look for the franchise if it isn’t us who pays him.
