Where do we need to improve

If Alec lindstrom is available pay the man. At least that will open up the running alone and allow Maye a safety valve.

OL , TE, WR , LB and CB .

Off-season

Lindstrom - priority 1
Alec Pierce - priority 2

If lindstrom not available move Wilson to center . If we get lindstrom , trade Wilson and move Ben Brown to LG. Unless we feel Wilson can be a good swing guard / center.

Retain Campbell at LT. We are overreacting to his performance post injury. I feel he was prolly 50% of his capacity and will definitely become stronger and better.

Cut - Henry, Pop, Diggs, Bradberry. Huge savings to be had when we cut these folks.

Draft - BPA first 3 rounds. 4th to 6th get an Prototypical LT from a less known school with high EQ.

Let's make peace that we will be a 8-10 win team next season.
That's a brutal schedule

Wilson got his ass handed to him tonight like Campbell did. I'd start there.

If Maye is gonna be a gunslinger making heroball throws into triple coverage like tonight - they don't have the horses for that kind of offense. Start with a big guy.

Still need Edge, TE and S.

Oh they need a new LT as well cause Moses isn't getting any younger. So the line is actually in pretty tough shape. They could have position changes at LT, LG, C and a drafted RT.

Thats a lot.

Top priority is the OL. We need a legit left tackle and we also need a trainee at RT to replace Moses in the long term.

Second need is Edge. Did Darnold even get his uniform dirty today? Milton Williams got to him once and that was it.

Tertiary needs would be at LB and WR. One more solid LB and a WR who can threaten the defense are needed.

We have both free agency and the draft to address these needs.

Sadly we spent a top 4 pick on an OL but he got exposed today.

A lot of things worked in our favor this season for us to make it this far but our schedule will be way tougher next year.

Significant upgrades are going to be needed on the roster for us to even dream of reaching the Superbowl again next season!

OL, OL, and OL.

It’s gonna take awhile, but hopefully in a few weeks or so, most of us can look back and remember this season for the success that it was. It sucks right now, and next years schedule is tough, but anyone claiming a 7 or 8 win season is just letting their anger take over. Can **** happen and they struggle next year, yes, but I am willing to bet we have a solid campaign next year. Simply based on how many new, young faces we used this year. And for fu*ks sake, Drake Maye is 23 years old and just played in the Super Bowl…let me say that again…played in the SUPER BOWL. We are going in the right direction. Stay the course…and build the line of scrimmage.

Pretty clear it starts with the OL, the left side of the OL. WC needs to swing to guard ASAP, as long as we find an upgrade at LT. The breakdown of the OL turned Maye into a pumpkin in the post season - the more he was harrassed, the more his confidence was broken. By the SB, kid was seeing ghosts and it impacted his accuracy and downfield vision. It's 100% priority, as it's always key to get your QB protected and confident before he's broken. Drake was downright awful today - even when he had time and open WR's, he missed them by 3-4 yards. The missed a pass to Henry was so inaccurate it was hard to understand. He threw a ball away
rolling out once being chased when he had a wide open WR on the sideline. The kid was so out of it, it was startling at x. He felt fragile after being so composed all year.

We know how good he can be, but now we also know how bad he can be. Have to put him in a position to be good,

Then some of the more obvious are usuals, like an edge, a WR. But these aren't even close to needing to shore up the OL.

Not a bad call on punter.

Hard to know how to evaluate Will Campbell post injury but that’s obviously a major question. Reality is that you can never have enough linemen so keep drafting them and let them compete in camp for spots. Wilson - not impressed at all even before he came back from injury. Never showed me much and I think it was a coaching mistake to not try out Ben Brown in the playoffs (maybe even Lowe).

As for the receivers and TE, they need to evaluate whether the investment in both Henry and Diggs makes sense going forward esp if another veteran WR (cough AJ Brown) becomes available. Just adding another high paid vet on top of the spend we already have probably doesn’t make sense, so if you bring someone like that in then somebody has to go. Draft is also another place where investment makes sense - I’d go for high upside / high bust potential if we are drafting later. We have enough steady guys who can do their job. We simply need more pop potential in high end games when the defenses can physically overwhelm you.

Finally the edge defenders need an upgrade and frankly you can’t get this except via high draft picks or trade market. This is simply hard to land without top 15 draft capital and we don’t have it. In lieu of a star it would be helpful to at least build some real depth here. Chiasson has definitely shown enough that I’d be comfortable resigning him if the money isn’t insane but I’m not sure it won’t be.

Next year will almost certainly be a step back in terms of record but if we can keep developing young players and add some more high end pieces (plus Drake can continue to improve) then we still have a good chance to make noise in the playoffs and contend for the ultimate prize. It will almost certainly be a harder road but the does that matter if the team is actually stronger? At some point you’re gonna play a juggernaut - you best be able to punch back when that happens and this year we couldn’t quite do it.

everybody is leaving out QB.

Maye did not measure up once we got past the soft regular season schedule. The game was too fast for him, he couldn’t read the defensive alignments and adjust protection or change the call. He got conservative and worried about not making costly turnovers and that caused other mistakes such as off target throws. Defenses got wise to his scrambling ability and took advantage of better coverage to hem him in to prevent the scrambles, and he helped by playing tight and waiting too long to scramble out of fear of exposing the ball to being stripped. That concern was valid, he got stripped quicker than a five dollar dancer as soon as he went against better competition.

It wasn’t just because of the OL, Maye was playing slower than the defenses he faced through the entire playoffs, and it finally caught up with him. He made the OL look worse because he didn’t scramble the way he had against weaker opponents, and he didn’t take care of the ball when he did try to get out of the pocket. It was also that defenses were better disciplined about keeping him hemmed in.

Dude - he got sped up because he was under siege. That is no indictment on him...we've seen some of the all time greats look the same CONSISTENTLY when it happens to them. You either need protection to hold up or receivers that can get open quickly and consistently. When that fails to happen time and again, the QB starts to see ghosts. That's not just Sam Darnold that's Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers.

Drake could have played better, no doubt. But he is very low on my list of concerns moving forward.

Moses got abused several times in this game as well.

Overall the entire OL looked unprepared for the Seahawks attacking D. Some may have been that Seattle broke their past tendencies by blitzing a lot more, starting right away to seize control of the momentum and get inside the Patriots heads.

Drake is extremely high on my concern list. How many times do you have to hear him say, "I have to protect the football better" "I have to get the ball out quicker" "I have to blah blah blah".

Game after game after game. He is 10000 percent correct on all of that...but outside of the Denver game (which the only good thing was protecting the ball) he failed time and time again to correct those issues.

It's ****ing broken record at this point.

Oh and if anyone here would deny that if they saw any other young QB perform as Maye did tonight...and not laugh at them and say how ****ed their franchise was....isn't a serious person.

Will Campbell gave up 14 pressures. It was reported to be the most by any lineman this year. That isn’t right. It was the most given up by any lineman EVER since nextgen began in 2015.

That…tells you everything. And the eyetest was even worse.

Not only is he not a LT, I’m now unsure if he’s a guard unless he adds massive power to his frame.

Wondered who would be first to jump at that. He’s the leader of the team, and he was playing scared through the entire playoffs.

During the regular season his protection would break down and he’d see it and scramble, during the playoffs he consistently tried to scramble a step too late. He put a lot on film against soft teams and the better teams figured it out. They hemmed him in and kept him from breaking out the way he had during the regular season.

If the offensive line improves then Maye can keep developing. If they don’t, then it won’t be pretty.

With that said, Maye needs to improve with his reads, sometimes is fine to take checkdowns.
That’s another thing he needs to work on.
