I will never not celebrate Tom Brady, even if comes out and says he hates the Patriots and is rooting against us. Period. Same with Belichick, same with all of our old stars.
However, I REALLY HOPE that his lack of support is firing up our current squad (per the Spillane quote). Please please let's take that "us against the world" energy and get fired up:
(1) The entire defense should be able to be fired up (playing another hyped "best in the NFL" defense after the Patriots just posted the best defensive run since the 2000 Ravens)
(2) Drake Maye just lost MVP by a single vote, and people are questioning whether he's better than SAM DARNOLD - he should be full of FU energy
(3) Offensive line - left side called out as a massive weakness by the entire world yet again, despite being solid for the entire year until the playoffs. These rookies need to find that fire in themselves to show why they were drafted and that they belong in games like these
(4) Receivers - despite being top ranked in a bunch of metrics all year (yards per route run, tight window catch %), this group is being seen as a bunch of overmatched JAGs against a defense that just gave up 9 explosive passes to Puka and Devante & co...they need to show the world what they've been doing all year on the biggest stage they will ever have. Big Game Diggs can live up to his reputation particularly on broken scramble plays, Boutte downfield beat out Stingley and can do the same to lesser defenders in this game, Douglas was one of the most efficient YPRR players all year and has the athleticism to beat guys like Emanwori and those safeties right down the middle deep out of the slot, even Kyle Williams has the separation skills and speed to destroy any man coverage tight down the sideline on go balls. This group CAN beat Seattle's defense if Drake has time for explosives. The Patriots, not the Rams, were the most explosive offense in the NFL this season - and Seattle despite being the top ranked defense against explosives just gave up 9 explosives in a single game to the Rams in the NFCCG - we absolutely have it within us to do it
