Brady is the goat but FU

He let a certified lunatic move in with him along with his wife and kids.. how many examples does one need to realize he marches to the beat of a different drummer? ...jeez

I will never not celebrate Tom Brady, even if comes out and says he hates the Patriots and is rooting against us. Period. Same with Belichick, same with all of our old stars.

However, I REALLY HOPE that his lack of support is firing up our current squad (per the Spillane quote). Please please let's take that "us against the world" energy and get fired up:

(1) The entire defense should be able to be fired up (playing another hyped "best in the NFL" defense after the Patriots just posted the best defensive run since the 2000 Ravens)
(2) Drake Maye just lost MVP by a single vote, and people are questioning whether he's better than SAM DARNOLD - he should be full of FU energy
(3) Offensive line - left side called out as a massive weakness by the entire world yet again, despite being solid for the entire year until the playoffs. These rookies need to find that fire in themselves to show why they were drafted and that they belong in games like these
(4) Receivers - despite being top ranked in a bunch of metrics all year (yards per route run, tight window catch %), this group is being seen as a bunch of overmatched JAGs against a defense that just gave up 9 explosive passes to Puka and Devante & co...they need to show the world what they've been doing all year on the biggest stage they will ever have. Big Game Diggs can live up to his reputation particularly on broken scramble plays, Boutte downfield beat out Stingley and can do the same to lesser defenders in this game, Douglas was one of the most efficient YPRR players all year and has the athleticism to beat guys like Emanwori and those safeties right down the middle deep out of the slot, even Kyle Williams has the separation skills and speed to destroy any man coverage tight down the sideline on go balls. This group CAN beat Seattle's defense if Drake has time for explosives. The Patriots, not the Rams, were the most explosive offense in the NFL this season - and Seattle despite being the top ranked defense against explosives just gave up 9 explosives in a single game to the Rams in the NFCCG - we absolutely have it within us to do it

We living in a world where Asante Samuel is ripping Brady and dropping podcasts demanding Belichick be made a first ballot HOFer. Up is down, down is up lol

Personally, I don't give a crap. Who really cares?

I knew that Brady would never have a connection with the Patriots or the New England area after he retired no matter how it ended in New England. He was never one of those guys like Bruschi that bled Patriots red, white, and blue. I knew Brady would move on and may make appearance at times, but his heart was never "Foxboro for Life" like his good buddy Edelman.

I can feel for his teammates who did fight with him and probably feel insulted that he didn't feel about this team the way they did. I can see how they could take it as an insult.

Yep. The title of the thread says it all.

I totally get why Patriots fans would be upset over this. A lot of people here love to tell other people how to feel.

Brady comes off as a huge phony in this and I’ve lost some respect for him. I probably wouldn’t care as much if he didn’t give his phony HOF speech.

"I am a Patriot for life" and then jetting out of there about 5 minutes after he said that about sums it up.

All of the Gronkaneer regulars are back here after 2 years defending their idol from any hint of criticism. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Brady has proven that he in fact does not deserve to be our idol

I've heard previously that Brady actually wanted to become a minority owner of the Pats and was rebuffed, but can't find the source now

Nobody does. No one is perfect and beyond reproach.
It's not about being perfect, but about being bigger than the sum of your parts. Something Brady was to me about a week ago...

What's a disgrace is that he's not part owner of the Patriots. That's a disgrace.

It was NOT a disgrace; it was an impossibility. Any selling of the Pats to Brady would have been viewed as a back handed payment and a violation of the cap, with the attendant loss of draft picks and a huge fine plus a no vote from the league on admitting Tommy to the "club".

Sorry DB, selling part of the team to Brady could never happen.

What prissy horseshit.
He said "may the best team win", Earlier he said Seahawks would win 6 out of every 10 teams, so he thinks SEA is the best team and wants them to win.

Despite his position as minority owner he could have said something like" I spent 20 great years in NE and the fans and the organization are great and I will always hope for success for that team except when they play the Raiders"

No one would have objected to that.
He is not as brilliant as he thinks he is.

9 pages of this.
Incredible.

It is foolhardy to think no one would have objected to that. Brady could say “the sky is blue” and half the loudmouths in sports talk would say how stupid he was.
