I can remember when 103.7 waw WHTT HIT Radio. Those were the times.

I read WVEI 103.7/Rhode Island sold the Frequency and Transmitter, not WEEI.
WVEI Simulcasted WEEI.

Hopefully the western Ma and Cape stations continue.

Not trying to be funny. But they really use terms like "southern Rhode Island" in Rhode Island? I mean is "Central" Rhode Island an intersection?
central rhode island? lol, now you are just being silly... every one knows there are three places in RI - Providence, Newport & South County...

southern RI is Exeter to points south, where the politicians stop spending on infrastructure and public services... the keep all that money up north for themselves...

Listening to the radio on the radio is so 20th century!

Personally I find it quite cool that we still can just stick out an antenna and capture the same kind of signal that was broadcast 80+ years ago and listen to it.

For AM, it's 100+ years ago.

Some people don't want to download apps, aka, let me find out all your personal information and sell it to anybody/everybody.

Not just that, but the cable and internet products are quite often inferior to the over-the-air broadcasts.

A lot of the cable signals are heavily compressed.

A lot of the internet products are quite delayed.

All cost a lot of money compared to over-the-air.

I love the NFL Draft because I know the pick a few seconds before those who are watching on an app or a smart tv.

This messes with people in our draft-day thread, but I don't care.

Yet, like this WEEI situation, I know the days of being able to capture signals over-the-air are numbered.

Corporate enshittification will sooner or later take it away.

I'm already the last person in my neighborhood with a TV antenna on the roof.

You can watch on YouTube also. I’m on the west coast and will watch Zo, Curran, Perry, etc to keep up with Patriot news and insight

Wow! I would hope 3,000 miles was far enough to get away from those ass clowns!

what is a radio?

It's the thing that lets cell phones make phone calls, connect to mobile data or wifi, use bluetooth earbuds, know its location, ....

Next: What's a cell phone?

I think you are referencing radio frequency (RF) bands which are categorized segments assigned to VHF, UHF, S-Band, etc, for uses such as AM/FM radio, wi-fi, satellite and radar.
which is different than a radio
so...what is a radio?

Do folks think a cell phone isn't a Transceiver?

What Happened to The Score in RI? Is that around anymore? Gresh got his start there IIRC.
Tony Colletta the lead host was an old school sports commentator, who would have gotten "drowned out" in today's sportstalk hysteria. At that time WEEI and 98.5 did not reach most of RI there was no "streaming" available..
That was my first taste of Gresch... fortunately that awful taste was enough for me. Never thought he was all that insightful or knowledgeable.
Remember one episode when he talked about going to a C&W concert at Gillette and he planned on getting his wife drunk so he could knock off a "piece" during his daily sports show.... that pretty much told me all I needed to know about his inordinate need for attention.
Whenever I hear he is going to speak, I avoid it at all cost..

AM radio is the bomb.

No need to download any app or other BS.
