On June 2. One of the reasons this rarely gets used is the relief isn't immediate.
Like I said they can release him as a post-June 1st designation, it's effectively the same thing. Only reason to wait is if you are trading the player and need to wait til then to process the trade for the financials to work out or you aren't totally sure yet that you want to move on.

Russell Wilson to the Steelers.

Kind of shocked that it's been 30 min and the only free agent signing so far has been DeAndre Swift. Everything else has been re-signings.

Maybe players thought there'd be more money since the cap went up?

The Eagles just paid OG Landon ****erson a 4 year 87 million dollar contract. If that's what Onwenu wants (with ****erson being 2 years younger), that's not good for us.

If his market explodes to play as a guard then the Pats should walk away. I love Onwenu but they need him as a tackle and he's only a B+ tackle. Can't be backing up the brinks truck for guys that are a B+. He's an A+ guard but they are set at guard between Strange and Sow, and Mafi is probably OK with some development. I'd probably roll with Okorafor at RT before dropping over $20M AAV on Onwenu.
Totally agree. I believe some folks have what I’ll call “tallest midget bias” with Onwenu. He is an average NFL starter at Tackle. Good in run game, not great in pass pro. He is NOT a top 10 tackle.

He may well be a top 10 guard.

Pats don’t seem to want him as a guard, at least at the comp he’s looking for.

He doesn’t seem to want to play tackle.

Sometimes there just isn’t a fit.

Just because he was drastically better at RT than what they were trotting out, doesn’t mean he was great…it means they were AWFUL before so “average” looked incredible.

I’m not convinced Chucks will be a worse RT than Onwenu.

This is incorrect. The Pats would save $5M trading JuJu now. They wouldn't be responsible for the guaranteed salary and would only have the Signing Bonus Amortization.
May have to GIVE a pick to shed the salary.

I go back and forth on Onwenu. On the one hand, OL play is crucial to the development of players at other positions. We're so barren of talent worth paying top dollar for. Even though he's only "worth" elite money as a RG, his versatility to play RT well enough to get by with adds some important depth at a crucial position.

On the other... an elite RG probably isn't the best cornerstone piece and we have some younger options in Strange/Sow. Might make most sense to just let him go.

Next I'm going to say BB was fired and Mayo will be the new HC.
We give you a pass on this only because you are one of the sexiest man alive and your avatar is great

The Eagles just paid their 2 years younger than Onwenu OG an 87 million dollar 4 year contact. If Onwenu wants that, he needs to go.

Interesting with MIN signing Greenard and TEN signing Pollard before Hunter and Henry agreed elsewhere. Incumbent teams getting ahead of guys leaving.
