Belichick criticism mega-thread

I’m not convinced he did screw up, football-wise.
We weren’t winning a SB in 2020. We are overhauling this team in 2021 likely upgrading half of the roster spots (starters and depth).
While “Brady is Brady” is certainly an argument is entering that era with a 44 year old QB the best plan?

If you are talking about the emotional attachment to Brady only playing for one team and a great kumbaya among the herores of the dynasty, sure he botched that but that has no value to me.
Okay so Bill didn't bungle the Brady contract because he bungled the rest of the roster to the point that it was so bad that he couldn't field a winning team around Brady? I guess that makes things much better.

I'm pretty sure that's how a vast majority of Pats fans feel, but for some reason a few are too defensive about any criticism of Bill. He's not perfect.

Meanwhile Kraft, the person who calls the shots, is letting Bill take the heat instead of speaking up in his defense.
Can you blame Tuggie, though? He spent years talking about wanting Brady to retire as a Patriot, and then he cuts him loose when the guy was still good enough to win Super Bowls.

If I were Kraft, I'd stay out of the limelight as much as possible right now.

Nothing to do with emotions, or how Tom feels or your feelings on the matter. 100% has to do with people who are absolutely ruining threads with complete garbage takes. I don't care if you like he's gone, if you don't, or if you agree with Bill that an old QB is not worth the risk... ANY of that. Those at least are reasonable opinions. What you are doing is not that. You are talking out of your ass and ruining threads. It is KNOWN that the Brady contract has been an issue for YEARS. YEARS. You go around and ignore what we actually know and write post after post after post after post after post of GARBAGE based off things that are completely out of context. You use the word 'fact' when you wouldn't know what one looked like if I swung it at your face.
Don’t even bother with the guy. He’s obtuse. He keeps going back to the very last meeting at Krafts house when Tom went there to tell Kraft he was leaving and completely ignores the 3 years that led up to that decision. That last meeting with Kraft wasn’t a negotiation, it was a good bye. Kraft and Belichick had 3 years to offer Brady a multi year deal and they never did. I’d have an easier time explaining this to my dog than Ring6 and my dog is pretty dumb.

Pete Prisco !!! i havent heard that name since he routinely picked manning all the time .
One of my favorite Prisco power rankings during 2007...

For weeks he refused to rank the 2007 Patriots ahead of the Colts and then in week 5 then he said probably sarcastically "if they can beat undefeated Dallas on the road by 14 then I will rank them them at #1"... and then after the Pats beat them by 21 he did exactly that. Even grudgingly. LOL

Of course it’s emotion I can feel the tears rolling down your cheek as you type.

Brady chose to leave. That is an iron clad fact.
Brady was given the opportunity to tell the team what he would want to stay and he passed.

All of the conspiracy theory, rumor conjecture and bs has to be held up to those facts, and when it happens they fail. Why else do you think that you personally attack me instead of engaging in a discussion about the facts? Because you are offended that I don’t not accept you rumor induced opinions, which you only have because you picked a side first and search out information later.

I would suggest if you think me repeating the facts in the face of rumors that are inconsistent with those facts is “ruining threads” that you stop trying to dispute facts with rumor.

Ultimately even if those rumors are true, the fact remains that Brady chose to leave and when Kraft tried to stop him he said no thanks I want to go. This eliminates the idea that Brady wanted to stay and the team let him walk.
Why he wanted to leave is an entirely different topic, one that can only be based upon speculation, than the factual point that it was his choice to leave.

Did you like the years from 2014-2018?
I don’t consider them bungled because the fallout is one year of cap trouble to deal with.
Hell I’d trade 5 years for one SB in the blink of an eye so you would see me complaining about trading one year for 4 Sbs.

I read 2 lines and I stopped reading and now you are blocked. I could point a gun to your head and tell you to leave a room and according to you: you chose to leave the room. It's a 'fact'. For your sake I hope you are trolling because if you are not you aren't ever leaving that basement.

I think the problem is that in order to get good analysis you have to pay for it. That leaves the free airspace to the clowns. I stopped watching and listening many years ago and I don't miss any of it. Once in a blue moon I'll put on Pardon the Interruption, which used to be my favorite, but I don't last long.
I used to watch that show all the time but Wilbon (if he is still on the show) just became unbearable. It's not even his constant Patriots hate it's his smug takes and the fact that he is just flat out wrong a lot of times. I remember when Sean Taylor got killed he said something along the lines of "he deserved it" because of some off field issues in the past. It turned out that it was a home invasion and Taylor had nothing to do with it but to my knowledge Wilbon never apologized.

“What can we do to keep you here” is pointing a gun at his head? Wow. I am truly sorry you are so emotional affected by this. Perhaps you should find a support group instead of a football board.

Apparently that strategy is working quite well. We never hear his name mentioned in any of this.

He started drafting pretty poorly about 5-6 years ago. Those championships were built on good drafts. He bungled the drafts and in turn the roster. It's okay Andy. Bill won't see this so you can admit he isn't perfect.

When you cant legitimately debate a point, attack the person trouncing you.

Brady chose to leave and when given the opportunity to ask for anything he wanted he said no im good.
That’s really what happened.

Why he may have felt that way is an entirely different discussion than whether it was his choice or the teams that he left.

Please show me where I have ever said that. My comments historically are that people in his position are lucky to be right half the time.
See hyperbole is the best signal of an emotional argument that doesn’t care about correctness. Well maybe second best to personal attacks. It’s quite funny to watch.
This conversation was about Brady choosing to leave, not an analysis of belichicks job performance. 3rd signal, deflecting.

Brady went to krafts house before free agency started and told him he was leaving. Kraft asked him if they could do anything to get him to stay and he says no.

HAHAHA. I didn't know you were referring to that. Oh my. Seriously? Brady already had a contract when he went to Kraft's house.

This is a preposterous argument.

He's on my very lengthy media hit list because of defamegate

No guesswork. We had just finished witnessing this same thing the previous summer. Brady wanted a multi-year contract, the year after winning a 6th SB. Bill and Kraft only offered a 1-yr incentive laden deal.
[/QUOTE]
Actual they gave him a 2 year deal and his insisted on voidability and an agreement to not tag him. Please explain why the patriots would want voidabilty (it does them no good) and add a tag restriction while giving him a pay raise if they didn’t want him here.

We know this because Brady himself talked about it to reporters and he didn't look happy: "it is what it is." That was the first of many shocking and uncharacteristic things Brady said that season.
We don’t know something because you think a person “didn’t look happy”.
If Bill & Kraft offered that "after just winning a SB," you think they were going to give him a multi-year deal after going 1 and done and being a year older?

You're saying: "if Brady wanted to stay, why didn't he beg." Because he already knew the answer and has pride. It worked out better for him.
why did he need a multi year deal? Explain. What is wrong with year to year? Break it down for me. A free agent proposing a contract is not begging. Failing to do so certainly is saying you don’t want to be here. Bob give me 2 years 50 mill and I’ll sign it and stay, or even 5 years 100 mill and ill finish my career here is not begging it’s negotiating a contract. Did he beg Tampa?

Not true, free agency had not started.

I can't get sucked into a back and forth Andy fight.

I'm out. Lol
