Bengals release QB Andy Dalton

This all depends upon BBs opinion of Dalton. If he thinks dalton is a talented QB who has been held back by a poor team and bad coaching he will sign him and it’s an even competition with Stidham.
If he thinks dalton just sucks (like he appears to think about winston and newton) then he won’t.

Huh? So Belichick doing anything other than laying down in the corner and losing on purpose means he has an ego and it’s all about brady?
Tebow? The guy who was competing for qb3 and got cut? That was bill showing the world?
You have to get out more, find a job that has some type of competitive nature to it. Play one on one basketball with you buddy for 10 bucks. You gave a warped idea of why people are motivated to succeed.

There really was no reason to sign Tebow at the time. He wasn’t replacing Brady so why else would he come here? I have a tough time believing Bill didn’t think he could turn Tebow into a great QB the Patriot way.

I joined this board at the same time when he was signed. His fanboys and girls were here. Im sure you can imagine what that was like.
I remember it was nauseating.
I just wanted to see if he could run wild cat or sub packages.
Because he seems like a great guy I wanted him to do well.

True. Bill definitely has an ego but I’d say Bill also has no problem signing/drafting a guy to push who he believes is his starter. Brady was lousy in 2013 and then JG showed up and made Brady better.
Absolutely.

No on Dalton
Terrible and no arm and 33

And the Pats have no cap room

He has a better arm than Hoyer but Hoyer knows the system inside and out

Dalton makes zero sense even as a backup. Hoyer is good value with his contract

No x10 on Dalton.

The good old days. LOL. Link
The Importance To Belichick of QB2

Couldn't tell if American_Champion was a troll or he really loved tebow that much.

Some of the comments about Mallett being great are kind of funny. Including my own: I'd still like to think Mallett will be the heir to Brady someday. A big camp and a big preseason will go a long way to make sure he stays in that line.

LMAO

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed my time living in FL and hanging out with young dumb and hot Tebow disciples. But I do remember coming up here occasionally and hearing on EEI that Pats "fans" were rooting for Tebow over Brady because they were christians.

Does Dalton get any guaranteed money from Cincy this year? If not, will probably cost 5-10 million on a one year contract. If I were the Chargers, I would definitely be interested. He gives them a better chance to contend this year than Taylor.

I don't think Bill's ego will drive the signing of Dalton.

It'll be Bill's desire to field a competitive team.

It's also Bill's desire to avoid signing players that just keep making the same mistakes over and over.

Brady is in the late afternoon of his career. - Me on July 5, 2013. Woof.

We have no idea what $ Dalton would get/want.

If Stidham goes on IR early in the year, who would do a better job? Hoyer or Dalton?

Actually having competent pass catchers made Brady better in 2014.

Don't sleep on J'Mar Smith. I think he fell off the draft boards because of his 2 game suspension which came at the worst time for his team.

But he owned up to it like a man, and took responsibility. That speaks to his character.

I really like him- great pocket movement, a gun of an arm, and more importantly, great anticipation. He throws receivers open, and you know how much that's needed at the NFL level.

Because there is a 90 man roster for camp and Tebow was a QB who had won and had issues that coaching may correct. That’s the way it works.

If salary cap was no way involved, you sign Dalton for the competition. If he turns out to be the best guy, then you can still get a good 5-7 yrs out of him. Problem is, the salary cap has to be taken into consideration, and Dalton no doubt wants to make his. He won’t be coming here. I see Jags, posssssibly LAC’s, and if things wanna get really juicy, Jerruh could bring him on board. If I’m Dalton, I wouldn’t mind taking a one year discount to have a legitimate chance at being the starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys.
