How Can the Pats Stop the Ravens?

Don't get beat up at the LOS on both sides of the ball. It starts there. This is why the Ravens are so good.

LJ is truly a breath of fresh air and so exciting to watch. The most dynamic offensive player to come into the league in a long time. The fact that we passed over him for Sony makes it very painful to think what could have been. Many were 100% hoping the pats would pick LJ at that spot.
Its not just LJ, although he makes every one on that team better.

They have solid lines on both sides of the ball. Kudos to Harbaugh for having the vision and imagination to transform his team so quickly. Right now the Ravens are the best team in the NFL and its not even close. That could change with just 1 or 2 injuries, but very impressed with Raven's perfectly executed plan to make their team a championship contender

Pat Mahomes, KC Chiefs 2018......

I keep seeing this posted like Mahomes sucks this year. He’s still playing very well it’s not like he won the MVP then turned into Cam Newton.

It's still fun to discuss football strategy. That's my favorite part of football. Sure, the Patriots aren't going to waste time worrying about the Ravens (other than the post-game self scouting they do after every game), but what about us fans, sitting with our thumbs under our asses, fretting and freaking out at every perceived threat?

Unless someone has a novel genius idea this all has been said 2-3x already.

There were at least two threads following the Ravens game dealing with this plus the rewatch thread also venturing into the direction.

You can already smell the next one around the corner with the 49ers matchup.

That wasn’t the meaning. Most everyone else knows what I’m saying.

The new flavor that cannot be stopped!!!!

You are forgetting how ‘invincible’ Mahomes/KC were said to be last year.

Greatest Show on Turf, Manning, Mahomes, Jackson, yadda yadda yadda. When was the last time a non-division team beat the Patriots twice in a season????

Denver 2005?

This.

Can't allow LJ to run fwd on his RPO. He needs to be going parallel or backwards.

Thats all Dline push and shooting gaps

I feel like the QB position is changing, shifting I guess.
Like I said, I think even bill sees this pattern because he was interested in this guy.
Look around the league, there are way more "mobile" QBs that can throw. We face another this week.

All of this has been said before LJ at least a dozen times. All of this will be said again once another running QB will be drafted in a few years and LJ has lost the spotlight.

Nothing about football will change because of LJ.

So people are supposed to wait how long before they start calling an MVP candidate good?

No one knows if the Pats will even play the ratbirds again this season.....on to Houston

KC ain't beating them with that D. I don't see many teams being able to beat them.

If the Pats lose 1 more game I feel HFA is gone. I think Ravens win vs 49ers and by 2 scores. After that...cake for them.

Sure, it was covered in the Pats @ Ravens all-22 thread, but this board has a very short attention span. What can you do?

“Good”??? LJ is GREAT!

But not invincible. I’m enjoying watching him. I also enjoy anticipating how BB will strategize him the next time.

The point was, the “breath of fresh air” comment by the poster I was originally replying to was oddly reminiscent of years past and not so fresh really.

@Ring 6 what exactly are you disagreeing w? It's not opinion.

There's 0 evidence to suggest that "running/mobile" QBs get hurt more/are more likely to get hurt.
I disagree that running QBs are not more likely to get injured. It’s common sense, more hits equal greater chance of injury.

I honestly thought after the bad start the Pats were going to beat the Ravens. Jules's fumble took the wind out of the sails. I thought the D solidified with a spy after the first 17 points, but I wasn't watching that closely (I was likely dwelling on my concern that the Pats can lose to almost anyone to take the first lost, but not these clowns).

The Pats played the Ravens as the 9th straight game, and on the road. The Ravens played at home after a bye week. That was no small benefit to the Ravens.

The Rams gave up 55 points to the Bucs and lost recently to the Steelers. The Rams were broken by the Pats, and never recovered. Beating up on the Bengals was unimpressive, and the Texans just looked lost from the gun (offensively and defensively). You can appreciate the results, and Jackson, but I won't be calling the Ravens the NFL equivalent of Ivan Drago. Let's see what happens against the Niners D (once again, a damn home game rather than away). I am interested in seeing the Bills D after that.

That was 6 pages ago, are you kidding?

If they do this to the 49ers it will be impressive no matter what the homers say. If they win by double digits it will be impressive. No one has held them under 100 yards rushing this season. You gotta have good d-line play and they better be disciplined. They have pushed around every d-line this season. My only concern right now is this offense. You have to put up more than 20 points to have a chance.

My very unprofessional opinion on why the pats have trouble with the RPO is how disciplined the D plays. If the “do your job” defense is designed for everyone to be in their gap things get dicey when you introduce another running threat in the QB. All of a sudden you have an extra offensive player attacking an area that doesn’t account for that extra attacker. To defend it someone has to be “ out of position” to make the play.

Drago lost in the end, no?

Just like The Greatest Show on Turf in 2001, the record Manning Colts in 2003, the Brady Moss Welker Pats in 2007, the Mahomes sChiefs in 2018.

Not cowed anymore by November Invincincibles.

You don’t need a defender in coverage on a running play.

.....because the opposing offense tells the defense they are not passing before the start of the play?????? WTF.

That 2007 pats team was showing weakness in the second half of the season. I haven’t seen that from this ravens squad. They know their offensive identity. It comes off their running attack. Meanwhile our team still doesn’t have an offensive identity. Only 5 game remaining. You would hope to see this offense finally start to click on sunday night against the texans.
