I mean, he's not going to be released without cause, as that opens the team up to a potential wrongful termination lawsuit. Unless being accused in and of itself violates some aspect of the Personal Conduct policy, of course. I'm not sure either way.

Yeah, true or not, this is what some fans feared this guy brings to the team, a soap opera and distraction.
It won’t affect this team. It might affect its fans but that doesn’t matter.

I'm done with this thread , because the typical bleeding heart, PC police will spin this for weeks.
It makes me sick that you will assume he's guilty over this BS, without a clue of the facts.

Because a woman accuses a man (who JUST signed a huge contract) of rape after they have consensual sex.
Nah, nothing suspicious there.

YOU ARE WHY THEY DO IT!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your discussion. Sad

I fully understand and agree with you, so let me clarify what I was trying to say...

If he did nothing, she needs to be put in jail for extortion.
IF he raped her, he needs to go to jail

Thats what I was trying to communicate.

Agreed. I wonder if he could be just cut now until after all this. I don’t like this entire scenario. Can’t we just get some other guy or anyone else besides this pos

something seems shady. We may never know the truth but I hope we don't just release the guy to make a statement.

I don't think that will happen. It would look awfully hypocritical of Kraft to be rushing to judgment.

Oh if Baghdad Bob is saying so...

Shame on so many of you people. If he was still on the Steelers not a single one of you would be eager to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Shame on you for making such an asinine post.

All this happened when he was a Steeler but all the headlines are going to read, “New England Patriots’ wide receiver Antonio Brown...”

I'm not too worried about that. At this point, every team carries players with a history of this type of transgression. It's not like the Patriots are the only team with potential idiots and hooligans/criminals on their roster.

The big neon flashing sign is her statement that she would cooperate with the NFL. That is her way of trying to get AB to decide it would cost him less to pay her off than it would to face (for example) a 6 game suspension.

She wanted him to invest 1.6 million in her business & he said No.

Yeah, true or not, this is what some fans feared this guy brings to the team, a soap opera and distraction.

Are you blaming him if he's being extorted?

Honestly regardless of what happens, we probably should just cut him. We don't need him and this is the last thing this team needs. Nobody is going to touch him with this thing going on. Sucks for what could have been but some things are bigger than football

WTF?! Let’s just terminate someone’s employment because someone else made an accusation in civil court against him and is looking for money. Because we’ve seen as Patriots fans that these accusations are always genuine and never a dirty game.

The thing about this statement that give me hope it's true, is that a lot of it is verifiable. Flight records, video surveillance at high end adult clubs, text messages, ect. Perhaps the most damning is she claimed it happened on multiple encounters she in part intiated over long periods of time. Something she herself claimed i believe. I find that highly curious.

Will wait and see what happens.
Agreed a lot of that is verifiable.

It sounds pretty suspicious to me the more I read into it. We’ll see but he deserves the chance to clear his name on this though America will be quick to try to condemn him on nothing because of his antics and now association to the Patriots.

If there is one thing that could turn AB into a sympathetic figure for me it’d be being falsely accused of rape.

I mean, he's not going to be released without cause, as that opens the team up to a potential wrongful termination lawsuit. Unless being accused in and of itself violates some aspect of the Personal Conduct policy, of course. I'm not sure either way.

He can be cut for anything, and he can basically be suspended for anything. I'd say he's very unlikely to be cut or suspended for this though. Most people have already forgotten but Edelman had a sexual assault lawsuit against him in 2011, it was dropped eventually, and nothing happened.

Agreed. I wonder if he could be just cut now until after all this. I don’t like this entire scenario. Can’t we just get some other guy or anyone else besides this pos

Were you asking this about Edelman in 2011?

I love how people can only see these types of situations as he said/she said or one person is telling the truth, one is lying.

In reality, something happened, and he probably thinks he did nothing wrong and she thinks he did something terrible. The brain and confirmation bias blur just enough key details to turn a booty call into a sexual assault. In other words, she can be telling “her truth” and not lying, but that is still not proof that her truth is what actually happened.

Okay..? Just explained what I meant. I don’t have anything to argue.
So to be clear you are saying if it is investigated and there is substantial evidence of guilt? Ok. That’s fair.

I'm not going to pretend I'm in any position to judge the allegations. What I can say is that I hate this either way. There's a special place in hell for rapists, AND for anyone who falsely alleges rape, making it even harder for real victims to be believed and see justice done.

Oh, and of course I hate that the Patriots end up dragged down into it.
