Ok, I've tried to hold off from calling you delusional, but you have now exhausted my (admittedly) limited store of politeness. In this matter you are quite delusional. He will either play for the Patriots or retire.

If you dream that he would put his 43 year old body at risk, having to learn his first new offensive system in 20 years, with the amount of money he and Gisele have already amassed, then you are engaging in "magical" thinking.

But then you solve that real world problem with this hallucinagenic dream "He doesn't have to learn a new offense - he can bring the O that he has used with the Pats to their team and they will hire the offensive coordinator of his choice. Giselle is pissed, but she could live with Miami or New York for 2 years."

So in your world, Brady is going to be able to find some OC off the shelf who knows and can effectively teach the McDaniels system to 25 players on the new team work in sync learning and mastering this system whilst becoming in sync with Brady between his ages of 43-45. And somehow this won't completely destroy Brady's legacy and spine? Do I understand you correctly? Is that what you are putting out there?

As they said at Woodstock in '69 - - avoid the brown acid!

.
Sh-messy, you are missing the points of my posts (and others who agree with me) entirely. So, I am going to retire now, from this thread.

I have faith the Patriots and Brady will figure something out. I don't see Brady making outrageous demands nor do I see the Patriots offering a ridiculous lowball offer.

As a case in point, back in 2011 when Brady, Brees, and Manning were all scheduled to become FAs, the conventional wisdom was that Brees and Manning would reach deals "easily," while Brady's situation was the most likely to get ugly.

Of course, it was the exact opposite: Brady signed a deal before the season started while Brees and Manning were both tagged.

When I read things like that I honestly wonder what it is then. If he can just walk into any place and bring "the offense" with him then why the hell do we hear those stories of how difficult it is to get into his circle of trust every damn year ?

And in this case it is often about maybe 3-4 elements of the offense with the other RBs, OL, WR, TE and coaching staying the same.

If he was 34 years old it would be an entirely different story. Ironically so would also be BBs treatment of the contract situation and we would not have those tedious threads in the first place.

You know pisses me off? When a respected poster offers an opinion about a theoretical possibility and gets an ass laden snuffy nosed response.

Some of you need a good ole smack in the freaking head.

No brownie points for you.

Brady isn’t going anywhere. The Pats don’t hold all the cards here. I’m sure Bill doesn’t want to be left with Hoyer as his starting QB. A deal will be worked out.

Now that being said, and that .001% chance that Brady leaves actually happens, the one team I could see him committing a few years to is the Rams. Huge market to introduce TB12 to, his wife would be happy in LA, great team with awesome offensive talent and good coach. Put Brady on the Rams for 2 years and he’s getting another ring. The Rams would do it to. Internally they have to be questioning Goff after his SB performance. LA is all about names and there’s no bigger name in American sports then Brady.

Can you imagine the CA-RAZY madness that would fall upon the League if Brady was available to the highest bidder after this season ?

A soon-to-be 43 year old football player with tens of millions of dollars thrown his way by every franchise that thinks they are “one key player away”... Would be quasi impossible to explain to future generations !

And the publicity for the league... it would dominate all media.

Luckily, I suspect the odds are minuscule.
It would be funny to watch all the fans who have spent 20 years saying he's the worst human being alive suddenly salivate at the thought of him playing for their teams.

If the Broncos signed Flacco, they would definately sign Brady. There is a precedent with Manning playing a few good years and then god awful before retiring. Manning learned the new system just fine after being in Indy for 14 years, even took them to 2 SB. Brady is in better shape now than Manning was then. This of course is wifey aside. Never say never again.

No I was just setting up a hypothetical about what I perceive as a limited market for Brady IF he reached FA AND wanted to test it. I was just wondering if you could think of some teams that MIGHT be interested in him other than the 2 I mentioned. I don't think there would be much of a market for him and if there was one, it is unlikely they'd be teams he'd be interesting in going to.

I guess it was just an exercise in proving that this contract drama isn't as big as the media is making it out to be, because it's not a big deal even if Brady plays this year out. I wasn't questioning what you posted. $35MM is not an option
I agree with you and others who say that the options would be rather limited, but I suppose if we’re just spitballing different teams that could theoretically want him, there’s always the former coaches angle with MIA, DET, and TEN. There are former ties, and none of them really have long term QB plans, aside from maybe Stafford. I guess you could throw Vegas + Gruden in the mix, although that’s probably not exactly an ideal situation for Tom. Still...all it takes is one or two teams to turn the negotiations ugly, and no one wants to see that.

I’m thinking that they can iron something out like Brees’ 2 yr/50m deal, but that Belichick may want to let 2019 play out first, before reaching such an agreement. If worst comes to worst, they may do a year-by-year type of agreement, but again, Belichick may want to see what this year’s version looks like. I’m starting to wonder if he plays through the deal without a new deal. I certainly think it’s possible. The only thing I can see changing is if those rumors about needing to wait a full year between deals are true, and to this point most feel that they’re not.

Careful...they'll be making you a mod with that kinda talk.

Brady for Trent Williams?

just saying he can't walk unless they let him
That’s like saying that Trey Flowers couldn’t leave in free agency unless they chose not to use the expensive franchise tag, only Brady’s case at 34m is much more costly, at about 2x what Flowers would’ve been.

It’s simply not an option. They cannot afford a cap charge of 34m without drastically changing the entire team. It’s just not realistic.

well maybe next year we swap Brady for Jacoby with the Colts when Luck is finally done

I think you have the right idea but the wrong LA team. The Chargers are in no hurry
to re-sign Phillip Rivers. What better quarterback to have to draw fans to the new
stadium than hometown boy Tom Brady.

Oh, I’m sure there’s some desperate team who would be willing to sign Brady, but that doesn’t mean Brady will be willing to sign with them. Not just that, but those kind of teams will be the last kind of teams Brady would want to sign with.

I’m with @shmessy — if Brady doesn’t like whatever final offer NE gives he will retire. Why screw with your legacy — and body! — going to some desperate team that won’t have the players, system, or philosophy to let you play your best.

By that definition Massholes would be considered hometown boys in NY or Philly, both of which are physically and culturally closer to Boston than SF is to LA

But SF is a hell of a lot closer to LA than to Foxboro.
