If, god forbid, NE loses to the Fish next week, (a) when was the last time they were down 3 in the division at any point in the season (2000?), and (b) when was the last time they lost 3 in a row (2002?)?

But what you want is a fortune teller to let you know which players will never get injured. And in the case of Wynn, we're certainly not talking about someone that came with red flags that showed an injury was likely.

And we can't just pretend that Cooks would be immune from any bad luck injuries if he was still a Patriot.

Again it's not just injuries it's also flat out being unproductive. I just don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about our draft picks considering bb's draft history. I wasn't hot about the 23rd overall pick. My history shows how I felt about the trade at the time. I stick by it and any future trade that involves BB sending a contributor for draft picks.

I hate to say it, but I’ve seen this before. Dynasties die. Sports is cyclical. Sooner or later, the wheels fall off. We’ve seen 2 great dynasties over the last 35 years. San Francisco 5 Championships in 15 years and the Pats 5 Championships in 17 years. Impossible to sustain that greatness. Especially in the salary cap/free agency era. Dynasties lose assistant coaches, great players to free agency or injury, great players age fast. That’s why I was so upset about last year’s SB loss. Had a sick feeling it might’ve been Brady’s last chance to win one.

Not saying it’s completely over, but this team just lacks talent and leadership (from the players). To lose to a team by 16 points, that had lost to the Jets by 31, just shows you how far the Pats have fallen. Poor WR talent, poor TE talent (besides Gronk), average RB talent, a line that can’t block, all a recipe for disaster for a 41 year old QB. And then you add in that defense, or whatever you want to call it. Can’t stop the run, and makes EVERY QB look like Joe Montana. There’s no vintage Bruschi or Rodney Harrison or Willie McGinnest to lead this team.

We’ve had an incredible run, tons of incredible memories over the last 17 years. But I’ve seen this movie before, and sadly, I think I’m seeing the sequel. Even a win next week won’t mask what’s wrong with this team.

Poor drafting had lead to the beginning of the end. It’s pretty obvious that’s a key reason.

I will admit that during the game I was pessimistic, negative, and pretty miserable in the GDT. The second the game ended I flipped the switch to being more rational and optimistic.

I think the latter outlook is not only the more uplifting view, but also the more accurate view. With that said, when you're witnessing the team play as poorly as they did tonight and there's nothing you can do, it's quite an upsetting feeling. I suppose venting in the GDT is a means of unloading those uncomfortable emotions, but certainly not a good look. Apologies for my rhetoric during the game. I'll try to take a deep breath prior to clicking "Post Reply" for future games.

Nothing wrong with venting. But man some people say some stupid stuff. Some practice squad poster actually said we should’ve kept jamie Collins. How long has it been since he was traded? If we wanna knock the pats for failing to find another athletic lb I’d understand

And you're entitled to do that. But it doesn't mean getting a 1st round pick for Cooks is peanuts simply because you have little faith in what we'll get out of it.

I already have the golf channel on in the background.

Wait, no I don’t because I’m not a lunatic.
You know the media is going to out for blood no matter what distractions there are. So jokingly yeah anything that could deflect attention away from this Pats **** team sounds good. Even though the world dosent work that way.

Cant wait to hear Kellerman and all the other clowns pop off tomorrow.

Thank you for your class and honesty. It'd be easy (and, quite frankly, understandable) to pile on after tonight's game but you took the high road with that post. It's much appreciated and says a lot about you.
That dude seems like a decent guy. He’s always shrugging off the nasty comments and attempting to contribute to the forum. Hell, I like him better than a lot of our fans who are regular posters.

Yeah, unless Tiger Woods hijacks a plane, there’s no way that he’s going to be the focal point of the sports world, tomorrow.

The fact that the Packers, Vikes, and Steelers are struggling thus far helps to deflect some attention, but that’s about it.

You just fell for the oldest Rat fan trick in the book. Turn in your playbook...

Fair enough, but who else runs the ball? White cannot, and Burkhead can’t avoid getting hurt. Hill getting hurt was a big loss.

In my earlier reply, I forgot to mention this option:

This is the team that once lived on the empty backfield. There's no reason they couldn't have gone with it tonight.

3 WR
Gronk
White

Just don't tune in. It's been a blessing in disguise being at college without a cable subscription. I find livestreams of the games and peruse this forum, but that's the extent of my exposure to Pats-related media. I'm better off for it.

I think you are right. Vultures will be out in force.

Sometimes it's easy to like folks you don't know much about. ;) Don't fall for his faux flattery.

So I get all this criticism of the defense and the playcalling, but is Brady getting a pass? He played like **** also. No urgency
Who the hell was open? JAG and whats his name were completely covered and Gronk was triple teamed. Don't blame Brady.

I wonder why rivers isnt getting playing time. Usually BB plays his 1st rounder front 7 players early.

Rivers was a 3rd round pick.

The Jet fan status knocks him down a couple of notches, no denying that fact. :D

They probably looked at the lions terrible run defense and their own limitations at WR and decided they will pound the ball . Expose michel too much against a line which couldnt block. It kinda snowballed from there.
