Tony Romo

That's the other thing with this, is he runs his mouth so much in the idea that he is wildly biased against the Pats, he doesn't even know the rules, so people assume he does.

And, with the snarky "apology" later about who controls the clock, the Pats Hater watching the game has already been brainwashed.

There are people all over the interwebs and radio today saying NE "gets all the calls", with Romo giving them credence that in fact, "NE gets all the calls", when we can all point to questionable calls against the Pats, or even missed calls like rampant holding or other calls that could nave been made like when Gronk's shirt is held over and over or Cooks's arm is grabbed.

Perhaps you can revive Johnny Most, he's the only announcer I know without a hint of bias. Seriously, this dissecting every word, lest an announcer might say something that could be inferred as anti Patriot is getting real old. They have to say something about the other team, otherwise it will be an hour long Tom Brady worship service, and plenty of announcers do that.

This is exactly the way I feel. Or when an injury happens I absolutely hate how he plays doctor and within seconds he has a worst case scenario diagnosis. Sometimes its just better to keep your mouth shut for a second.
That he does.

Romo is worthless as an announcer. More often than not he gives a second (and incorrect) assessment of the referee’s decision. “I don’t agree with that call” is is favorite line and it is the absolute worst thing an announcer can possibly say. Let the viewers decide whether they think the referee got it wrong, don’t sit up in the booth and be the “people’s referee”

Exactly. Massive ego

I think romo is great. I do think sometimes he wants the patriots to lose. It’s almost as if he’s trying to will the other team. That gets a little annoying

The clock thing was funny. He goes let's play it back in slow motion. They play it back and it shows him down at 1 second. Then he says something like "well it's too close to call."

I thought it was funny too. I don't think you could enjoy a game assuming every comment is a shot at the team. We're the world champs. Announcers are going to play up the possibilities for the underdog, otherwise there is no interest.

OP just curious who your favorite current announcers are and where you'd rank Romo among them.

Color guys? Cannot stand collinsneck, fouts and romo. Right now, there simply aren’t any worthy of ranking, which is sort of the point of this thread as Romo now the worst, even worse than Collinsneck or Phil Simms.

Moose Johnston is the probably the best out there and the most professional.

Sorry, but this breaks every rule in the book and is hands down the most annoying color analyst going right now.

We can rattle off names through the years, where even pretty good ones start out that way, and then become increasingly more annoying every year (Dierdorf, Collinsneck, Dan Fouts, etc), but Romo has just been ushered in by CBS to be VERY annoying all the way through as he runs his mouth while openly rooting for the Pats' opponent and misleading the viewing audience.

Did anyone catch them trying to imply the Pats cheated by paying off the NFL clock guy to slow it down before Gostowksi's kick before halftime?

Not only is this completely unprofessional, it's unacceptable. Kraft needs to pick up the phone and call Moonves.

It's not even so much what he says, as bad as it is, but he continuously runs his yap. Take a breath. Also, he is a classic jinx for the Pats opponent. He'll want something to happen so bad, he says something hoping it happens, and whamo, Brady hits White out of the backfield again and he's not telling the listening audience Tenn is 32nd defending the RBs out of the backfield.

If this was not a playoff game, I would have had Nantz and Romo on mute and been spinning records instead.

Just awful.

I miss the days of Charlie Jones and someone like a Merlin Olsen, and what a shame on the weekend Keith Jackson passes away, and we're left with these clowns.

Christ, even Don Criqui would be welcomed with Todd Christensen or something. I weep for the future.

Clearly you prefer watching NFL on mute. Good luck to you.

I didn’t like Romo the first time I heard him, but he is now far and away my favorite analyst. He is almost almost always right when he predicts where a play is going before the snap based on matchups and formations, and is has a great breakdown of quarterbacking. He also brings in the human side of these coaches and players by explaining their communication, which is often a lot more simple than we might assume. He also explains things that aren’t obvious to the average joe (or average broadcaster), for example recognizes that some of the “errant” throws by Brady are not in fact errant but thrown away from a receiver for a reason. The only small complaint is how he gets frenzied whenever there’s a replay or challenge where it’s a close call. He kind of argues hard one way and then argues the other side and concludes its 50/50, it at least he’s passionate. In the big picture, though, I think he is flat out great as a broadcaster.

You must be young. Pretending Romo or any of these agenda driven wind up dolls who are told what angles to use to try to drive ratings, can be compared to the all time great color analysts of yesteryear, is funny to me. I know many, many fans who feel forced to mute the game. Romo commits a half dozen cardinal sins as an analyst during every game. He is absolutely awful.

Good luck to you. Romo was wildly overrated as a qb and never won squat as jerry jones little pet, and now he is ruining broadcasts in postseason because the tv ratings are down and they are desperate.

Lol do people really want Romo to tell people the Titans are going to be stomped? Why are they watching the game then if they aren’t Pats fans? It’s his job to keep people watching.

It is? I thought it was his job to educate the viewer and articulate the finer points of the game? When Nantz mentioned tenn’s defense was 32nd in defending rbs out of the backfield, the smirky dork acted all disappointed he mentioned it.

I also enjoy the way Romo predicts what plays are going to be run and explains why. And even though he was talking up the Titans a bit, he also pretty clearly put it out there that a Titans win was more of a “hey, anything can happen” scenario. Was he perfect? No. But I feel like all these guys blather on without saying much. He may blather but at least he explains things.

I think i just dislocated my eyeballs i just rolled them so hard.

Sounds great, Millennial.

No offense, but i can predict the plays. That is not his job.

Why would I be offended that you can predict the plays? Good for you. Go have a cookie.

Not everyone else can. Like my my 11 year old son or the daughter of a previous poster in this thread. They actually learn stuff from his comments. And so do I, having never played in the NFL. See, you are not the only one who watches games. Ratings may be down but a lot of people in this very large country do watch and plenty don’t know as much as you think you do. So why don’t you just turn your tv down and predict the plays in your living room and let the rest of us listen to the game.
