Pats still interested in Sherman

IF butler goes and we can somehow get Sherman with Gilmore...good god.

But If Butler goes...I think Revis is more realistic and he seems to be waiting for the Butler news
He does? Where'd you read that? I'm not being a smart ass, btw.
trade for ****head and keep butler too
I believe the problem here is Butler would likely have to be part of any deal involving Sherman, whether it turned out being Butler and a higher valued pick for Sherman and a lower valued pick, or a three-team thing involving N.O.

Not per some in this thread who have Butler ahead of Sherman AND Gilmore.

Sherman is better than Butler who's better than Gilmore. The Pats might have been able to land Sherman instead of Gilmore. That would have been the best option of all.

Why do people just state Butler is better than Gilmore. Butler played for the pats. Gilmore played for the Bills with a different coach each year.

People act like systems and coaching has nothing to do with player performance.

Because people also look at superficial things like Pro Bowl selections to make evaluations on player worth (not directed at 1960). LOL

Please stop, and that goes for everyone who declares Gilmore to be a better player as of 4/6/17. Very few, if any, posters here have seen enough Bills games to make that statement. Gilmore's physical makeup (superior size, speed, 3 cone) and, by all accounts, similar work ethic and coachability (see recent Volin article) gives him the potential to be the better player, hands down. Will he be? We don't know yet, but the contract the BB and co. gave him would seem to indicate that he is betting on it. Until we see him operate in the Pats defensive scheme we cannot make any judgements either way.

There are numerous examples of underachieving players who thrive after coming to Foxboro. Gilmore has already been a good to very player in upstate NY in a very unstable situation. I would not bet against him becoming an elite CB here. It's an argument can be revisited in the winter.

I, for one, am praying that we will see both in a Pats unit this fall (along with a trimmer, rededicated, newly selfless Revis looking to go out on a high note). Scorched earth. 19-0.

I want to see Sherman Gilmore and Rowe out there because no more Balls over defenders heads

I want to see Butler, Gilmore, Revis, and Sherman.

F*** it! We'll do it live!!

There's a thesis earlier in the thread. I can't remember what page it's on, though. It's not particularly well thought out or enjoyable to read, but it's long . . . there's that anyway. LOL

You evaluate with what you have, exactly the same as those who get hired to do the evaluating.

The Seattle Seahawks are shopping a potential trade for cornerback Richard Sherman, and it’s now clear any NFL team willing to consider such a proposition must be ready to pay dearly for the chance to add one of the league’s premier players.

The specific asking price for Sherman?

The Seahawks have let it be known they would consider trading Sherman, but only for “a very good player plus a high draft pick,” according to an NFL source.

And that’s just the team-to-team cost of a potential deal.

The cost of trading for Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman: Steep

Why would you want Sherman over butler?? Sherman is a better player than butler but we have Gilmore already. Gilmore and Sherman can cover bigger receivers .. you think Sherman can cover Odell's , antonio Browns of the world?? No one does it better than butler. People just look at names not schemes, coaching, skill sets and team..

i think sherman may struggle against the smaller slot receivers but would do ok against odell and brown.

Ok I don't concede to that but would you rather have butler cover smaller receivers or Sherman? I don't get it.. we have Gilmore already he has 40mil guaranteed money .. I rather have Sherman over Gilmore

Butler to cover smaller receivers would be my preference. Butler is likely gone after next year though.

But gilmore is 6'0 - he may struggle a bit against the julio joneses of the league too.
