Great Article on Brandin Cooks

I can see the appeal. All I really knew about him was his athletic ability, but that kind of focus, work ethic, and intellectual curiosity is going to serve him very well in Foxboro.

I read another article where he said he's looking foward to working with brady. Hope that's soon enough. Same for allen at tight end. It look's like floyd will be the odd man out.

Will be interesting to see if he is here longer than this year. His option is what...8.5 Mill for 2018? Very reasonable given his skill set and what WRs are getting out there on the market

You have to remember that edelman's getting older along with amendola. Also hogan will be 30 soon.

Oh i know we are old at the position and need to get younger. I think we pick up his option...and in this O in 2 years..he could be in for a VERY large pay day

Half the board wants BB/NE to ignore such status re: Butler, so who's to say Cooks doesn't want $15m/per immediately if he puts up a great 2017? And he could be an absolute MONSTER here if his Moss/Edelman skillset combo is in full effect.

Personally I'm more excited about the addition than I am concerned about the length of his stay here, but it is an instructive consideration in dealing with other present situations.

His stats here will be great...but I don't see Brady pulling a 2007 and just chucking it up to him every game like he did to Moss that year. Cooks #s may even go down/stay the exact same if all our WRs stay healthy. We just have so many weapons.

Health will be the biggest thing. I hope gronk can be the same player. That would be even more ridiculous. People forget about hogan as well. This guy was money when it came to making big plays. I can just imagine what he will do his second year.

Great article. I did not know much about him and was a little concerned about his demanding the ball attitude. This explains a lot about that theory. I see it more of confidence and determination than being arrogant. Hard worker and character kid. Reminds me of the negativity that Moss and Dillon got before coming here. Excited to say the least

If everyone is healthy, yeah agreed. So much going on, numbers level off and hopefully everyone is happy and all that. I do think Cooks has a unique blend of skill in the short, middle, and deep game that we haven't really seen here before. Because its uncommon in general. A few games missed here or there by Gronk/JE/others (which is a reasonable expectation) and this guy could go 100/1500/15 without even looking like hes working hard. Besides the TDs (others like Gronk, Allen, Dola, RBs may remain preferable RZ targets) that's not that different from '07 Moss.

His quick slants...deep routes...he can run it all...and blow by any defender in the league. He is going to be dangerous

I hope he and Brady take time after practice during training camp to make doubly sure they get the timing down perfect. We can't have Brady under/overthrowing him on potential big plays.

I believe TB worked on his deep ball last off season to the point where it was statistically the best in the league this year with the lowest turnover percentage.

BB and TB were both really bigging up Cooks before this year even, lets hope its a match made in heaven.

I'll be keeping an eager eye on who the Patriots scrimmage with during Training Camp. Our next stars will be coming from those feeder teams.

Or anyone else BB mentions in a press conference. According to Lombardi some agents use BB praise even during negotiations with other teams to drive prices a bit up.

Long article but some cool stuff in there for sure.
A coach’s days during fall camp are long. By the time Brennan got to the one-on-one segments of practice, it was well past midnight. The mind plays tricks that late. Somehow, Brennan thought he saw Cooks pitted against Jordan Poyer and Rashaad Reynolds, the team’s two best cornerbacks, whenever his turn came. It didn’t make sense. The next day, he saw why. “He was letting people cut in front of him, so that he can go against the best guy on our team,” Brennan says. “Normally, true freshmen don’t choose the toughest matchup on the field. He chose it every time. When I realized it, I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding.’”

" Cooks says his ideal NFL comparison is Steve Smith, an outside-the-numbers jump-ball winner undeterred by stature. He relishes traffic."

um hell yeah -- let's all hope.
