I understand your point and I also see we don't have the same view on the role of Burkhead if he gets signed. I think if he's brought in he is an immediate core special teamer and gets a few touches late in blowout games. And if you want to give some guys rest or want to change pace or something like that he is able to get you some yards if he gets the ball. Also if we should end up having a horror year in terms of injuries like 2015, he would be able to be the lead running back for us and we don't have to sign a Steven Jackson-type player off the streets. (That's a ****load of if's in a post.)
EDIT: I still belive we draft a big, bruising running back this year for the lead role.
In the words of Emily Litella,"Oh! That's different. Never mind."
Burkhead was almost exclusively a special-teamer than RB for CIN until the last six games of 2016, and he made a tad more than $700k. So, I guess it does depend on whether BB is looking at him as just a special-teamer or as a contributor as a lead RB. With the Pats, they've pretty much been mutually exclusive positions.
I was assuming that Burkhead's looking for an actual RB job and the BB is looking at him for that, unless BB sees Burkhead as an exceptional special-teamer. For Burkhead, with the Pats, it's pretty close to the same money, either way, though.
As far as big bruisers go, there should be a couple available in the 3rd or later, but I also think Blount's size may have been more anomaly than prototype. A guy Burkhead's size might be big enough to get the "15 for 60" job done.
