FOXBORO - Passionate Patriots [team stats] fans shaken by their team’s subpar play during its 0-3 preseason can seek solace in the thought that, as soon as the games count, the Pats will snap back into form.

And that may well be what happens two weeks hence.

But Patriots players made it clear after Friday’s uninspiring 27-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles they can’t simply assume all will be well when the regular-season curtain goes up.

Well, the Chiefs have to be concerned about flipping the switch themselves. They got crushed by the Dolphins this past weekend. And the Chiefs are trying to flip on the switch on a 5 watt lightbulb to boot.

Overall by all accounts, the players really were not all that concerned after Friday's loss. Neither am I. Just because the players are saying the right thing to the press doesn't mean they are worried. Mike Reiss said he was surprised how positive and unfazed the Pats were about the loss on Friday.

Do you really want them to go all out with the brutal preseason schedule?

I am so concerned that I think there is a realistic shot that the Pats go 4-1 over the start of season. They could lose to the Chargers. The Pats have the Chiefs, 49ers, and Dolphins in three of their first four games.

Why do we listen to the Herald on anything?

Clicking on the link just puts money in the pockets of an enterprise that tried to destroy the Patriots during the SB by printing what they later admitted was a false, unsubstantiated and, what's fatal journalistically and totally unforgiveable for me as a fan, untested, unverified, extremely damaging rumor as truth. The rumor got picked up by members of the national media who hate the patriots and became Arlen Comcast Specter's rallying cry.

I don't...... I think this flipping the switch is bogus...

Honestly the writer should be banned from public writing for a period of one year for using "flipping switch" and "light task" in his title. I'm embarrassed for the writer, that's some seriously bad 4th grade crap right there.

I don't think we're going to go into game 1 full out... but we never do.
I say it every year since I have been here that Belichick's teams do not hit full stride until sometime between week 6-8. it's been that way every year since he has been here. Even last year ... though undefeated you could see how the team was changing from week to week. If I had to guess I think we'll see the real team more around games 8-9 as opposed to games 5-6.

Not true. In 2002, we started balls to the wall and won the hell out of September.

Of course, other than 2000 it was the only year BB didn't win the division.

So yeah, I'm with you.

Peak in January, not in September.

Look at hte 2001 Pats and 2007 Giants. That's the value of peaking at the right time.

It should be "Writing Knowledgable, Fact Filled Articles Not In The Fine Print For Boston Herald".

I agree. to the OP - please edit your post and remove the link. I for one am happy to say that I have not visited the Herald's site once since Feb 02 . I guess I'll read the content if you want to copy and paste but I have no reason to visit that site now or ever again, and I don't feel as though I'm missing anything.

Is tomasse even still on the Patriots beat? I'd be surprised if he was allowed on the premises, much less the locker room.

I, for one, don't need any switches to be flipped....a nice steady building of momentum will be fine by me.

I think they found what they needed to flip the switch.
