Does Brady in for an MRI in an RI hospital seem like it must have been an off the field injury? Can't the Pat's Medical staff look after those kind of things in stealth?

Also, he can always hope to be less recognized in RI than Boston. Fat chance, though.

He wants to see those guys - he plays them. It is the second preseason game and means nothing. There is no need to have Brady fake an injury to miss the second preseason game.

It is my understanding that the Pats go to MGH for MRI's, etc. I've seen Colvin, Asante, Bruschi and others there. When my wife was delivering in April a nurse told me that they are the official hospital of the Patriots and as a matter of fact Kraft gifted them 8 SB (XLII) tix which were raffled off-she also said that tix are also raffled off for regular season games as well and have been for some time now.

I doubt the Pats would drop off Brady for an MRI on the way to the airport for Tampa, so the fact that they fly out of Providence is irrelevant to where Brady would go for an MRI.

So it's just a coincidence that well before the media (Reiss) reports Brady's no travel - foot, that two Pats message boards have reports of people seeing him at the RI hospital MRI facility.

I don't claim to be an expert on these things but Brady does live in Boston during the season.

If Brady did go to have an MRI, it's likely related to his injury last season, which was probably a stress fracture or a stress reaction. The MRI would tell which it is, and as I understand it, is the most common reason you'd go for an MRI or CT scan, at least as far as sports injuries go. I suffered from the latter during my (admittedly much less accomplished) sporting career, where I had high levels of swelling and pain, but the damaged bone was not displaced in any way, and thus an MRI didn't show anything. At 6 months, I still had pain and swelling - it takes a lot of time to recover from one, but inactivity, namely staying off the foot, doesn't really help. The bone loses density during that period, which is counterproductive to healing the damage. It would probably explain why Brady has practiced on it, but it's likely still bothering him. An MRI would be done if the pain or swelling increased to check for any additional bone displacement. If there isn't, he'd probably just keep resting it intermittently, while still practicing. The good news is, after about 10 months, I was nearly good as new, and at a year I had no lingering effects whatsoever, and my foot is 100% to this day (unlike some other areas). If it is what Brady is suffering from, it'll probably be around October or November that the foot starts to really feel normal again, and the issue hopefully won't linger.

It is possible that because MGH is (was) the official hospital of the New England Patriots, one or more media persons developed contacts at MGH, and Mr. "I don't want nobody knowing the injury status of my players" Belichick has decided to switch to another hospital in hopes of finding one that does not share patient records with the media.

There is a difference between the preseason and the playoffs. Healthy players magically have injuries that are either nothing or non-existent that force them out of games all the time in preseason especially if they want to audition that player's back ups. besides, would you really want to put Brady into a line up where his blind side is being protected by Wesley Britt?

There is nothing about Belichick being a mad scientist, it is about Belichick potentially doing what I wouldn't put past 31 other head coaches doing. Comparing this preseason game to the Super Bowl is apples and oranges.

There is no logical reason to fake a preseason injury for Brady.

You don't want to play him, don't play him. You don't need to make up a reason.

For example, there was a game about 9 days ago against Baltimore. They didn't want to play Brady. Or Moss. Or Welker. Or Harrison. And many others. None of them were given phony injuries.

that I hoped Brady did not play in a game until the line played.

better. The only change this past week was having Kaczur and Britt

switch sides. The player who played the worst, Yates, is still

My brother just reminded me that during this Wed's practice we attended we saw Brady scramble for 12-15 yds and he looked ok, we remember the play because Warren had to leap over him and Warren landed awkwardly and stayed out for a little before returning. Brady looked fine, finished practice and also practiced Thurs with no issues before siting out Fri's practice.

I don't mean to question any of your "sources," but why would Tom Brady be going to RI for an MRI??

I don't think there is anything wrong with Tom that a little rest won't cure, if at all-maybe an "injured foot" is the excuse the Pats are using not to play him with Goodell's new edict on integrity of pre-season games. The Chargers had to do the same for Tomlinson. I believe this is another way BB is managing his roster and it's quite obvious we need to find out now if Cassel or Gutz can play with the big boys. It's better to do that now vs in an important reg season game in December.

From what I was told, all the team members go there.
