Forgive me if this has been posted, I didn't see anything about it in the millions of preseason threads. But I'm just wondering if anyone thinks we may have kept Cassell this long, and presumably longer still, because of how much he knows about Brady and our offensive system. Granted he doesnt' seem to be able to execute, but could we keep him simply because we don't want release him and have him end up spilling the beans on Brady to Tony Grungy or the Mangina? He and Brady are pretty tight.

No. Cassie is here because he's contending for backup. Were Gutz to pass him on the backup list, BB would cut Cassel.

If he is cut he will have to go throught extensive de briefing particularly as to what plays they are going to use in the third game..

Cassel's inner knowledge of Brady probably is like this:

New team: Hey, Matt, what can you tell us about Brady's weaknesses?
Matt: Well, he can only throw the ball 70 yards in the air. He can't throw that well with his left hand, and he's not a good runner.

New team: Okay... are there certain routes he throws poorly?
Matt: Sort of. I've seen him throw the ball out of bounds some times.

New team: Yeah, that's when he needs to avoid a sack.
Matt: What... the? THATs why he does that?

New team: How are you even a quarterback?
Matt: Well... my hands are particularly adapted for holding a clipboard.

New team: Get the f*** out of here.

Matt: Nobody's tried kryptonite yet!

From the looks of things last thursday night it doesn't like he knows much of anything.

Or kill him...

Good idea. Better yet, they should get one of those memory loss flasher thingies used in the movie "Men in Black" to make people forget alien encounters.

BB has kept Matt Castle for this long because he wanted to build up his value. He was a very very late pick so he didn't have much value coming into the league, for all intensive purposes.

Fast Forward to today. Matt Castle has been backing up Brady for a few years now and his value is higher than what it was when he entered the NFL. IMO BB has sat on Castle and built up his value so that he could be eventually traded for Troy Smith.

Look to see that happen in next few weeks or so. The way the collective bargaining agreement has been lately, along with the statute of limitations on Upshaw's union delegates, this trade may take a while to materialize.

Phew! I thought Ken Walter had given him a tape of the Parcells Belichick towel snapping incident.

If he knows something about actually playing football, he's certainly hiding it from the fans.

Yeah, nce we sign a QB, he is a Pat for life. Can't have another team finding out we pass or run a draw on third and long. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Remember people, BB had Vinnie T depart last season. World did not end. Should Cassel get cut as the 'haters' here fantasize, he'll perhaps go to another team. If we play that team soon, signals will have changed. The offensive philosophy is to have SO many options that an opposing D cannot spend enough time practising to prepare for all of them.

Cassel should get the start over noodle arm Brady

Ok smartazz he's not any QB though, he's known Brady for a while and they're supposedly tight.
