If Jackson does not come on in [merged]

It's insane! This whole fiasco is about the 4th WR spot. If CJ makes the roster he might be in for 6 plays in each of the 1st 4 games. 2 of those will be blocking assignments, another 2 will be as a decoy and in the others Brady might fart in his general direction. Jackson is cheap this year and he will be adequate to fill that role. If he improves...great. If not...big deal.

Re: If Jackson does not come on in

Jackson was a high pick, with a ton of hype.... Expectations should be high, and he needs to do something to warrent his draft position. If not....b-u-s-t!

I totally agre with you..... I just feel like most if not all of us are just waiting for the inevitable. For those that still hold out hope or make excuses they either have an untrained football eye, or are in denial and not the river in Egypt.

Cheap, when you run the wrong route and the play results in a turnover because you read the wrong defense or did'nt pick up on a hot read, thats the only price I as a fan worry about. I don't care if he makes 2 or 10 million to do that all I care about is that he does'nt do that.

Re: If Jackson does not come on in

Not picking on you specifically, but to everyone: It was ONE play in the FIRST quarter of the FIRST preseason game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will you guys all chill about this already? It is friggin meaningless. Preseason is to work out the kinks. Guys aren't expected to get everything right.

Think like BB: The team made some plays that were good and some that were not so good. We have plenty to work on.

I know you said you aren't picking on me specifically, but why rag on me by saying exactly what I said in my post? Apparently, you missed the paragraph in the post you quoted where I said:

But then again it was just one play ina meaningless preseason game. It has been more analyzed in the last 4 days than any single play from the Super Bowl loss in the same time frame. If either Cassel or Jackson are cut, it will not be because of that one play no matter who is at fault. The Jackson haters want to use it as proof that Jackson is a bust.

So apparently I should chill pointing out that it that is was one play in a meaningless preseason game because it was one play in a meaningless preseason game. Thanks for the advise.

If the issue is a weaker AFC team, then we can trade him to an NFC team.

But, I don't think that is the issue. I think Chad Jackson is an immature, inexperienced potential major talent with 2 inexpensive years left on his contract. Slater is making this team as a returner. Washington is making the team as a Ster. Even if Jackson doesn't produce, Washington and Slater will be available to step up and take his potential reps.

Unless he is hopeless, I'd keep him.

CJ has the luxury of being the 4th receiver if they all stay healthy. Belichick will not release him so a weaker AFC team can grab him .. it's not happening.

I am still not convinced that Slater makes the 53 man roster. I didn't see anything Thursday night that would make me believe that. I think Slater may end up on the practice squad. He is going to have to show he is a special return guy to make the roster in my eyes and he hasn't shown that yet.

I do agree that Jackson would have to play pretty bad to play himself off the roster. We just don't have many WRs beyond the top 3 with proven receiver experience. Washington has some, but that was nearly 4 years ago. Aiken has none. Slater has none at the pro level.

I attribute your poor typing to having foam #1 fingers on both hands.

It's easy to say that when it's not your money.
If he screws up enough then he's gone. Like a cat he hasn't used his nine lives yet. He'll have every chance to make this team. If there is a blown play or two, so what? He'll be cut and I'm sure the Pats have enough offense to survive a couple of miscues. This whole thing is really blown out of proportion.

Re: If Jackson does not come on in(merged)

For me, Slater did enough to want him on the squad as one of the utility players.

The roster seems fine to me at this point for the offense. Obviously these are not locks. For example, there are veteran OL's and a couple of young TE's that wouldlike to replace those on my roster.

That allocates the defense their "traditional" 7 DL's, 9 LB's and 9 DB's.

OFFENSE (25)
QB (3) Brady,Gutierrez,O'Connell
RB/FB(5) Maroney,Faulk,Jordan,Morris,Evans
WR (6) Moss,Welker,Gaffney,Washington,Jackson,Slater
TE (3) Watson, Thomas, Pollard
OT (4) Light,Kaycur,Britt,O'Callaghan
OG/C (4) Koppen,Mankins, Hochstein,Yates
PUP (2) Neal, Ross

No bubble player has played his way on or off the roster yet based on one game. But I didn't think he stood out on returns. His longest return was 28 yards. His play vs. third stringers on offense is irrelevant (see Patrick Cobbs in previous years). He is going to make this roster based soley on his special team play and he has yet to show in game conditions that he is better than anyone else they could plug in there. He will be given plenty of chances to prove otherwise though.

As for your roster, don't be surprised if the Pats carry extra o-linemen or DBs. Also, unless Guiteriez shows he is good enough to be a legitimate #2 QB, they may add a veteran and carry 4 QBs (unless they cut him along with Cassel). With Tank Williams going down and problems with depth at o-line, I seriously doubt the Pats will be able to have the luxary of carrying both 5 RBs and 6 WRs. Who knows though.

Typical pats homer....Say anything negative about one of our players, and get attacked for something that has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand, or football.

Congrats, your 15 years old, and you have a parrot as an avatar picture

Unoriginal has more football knowledge than you could ever wish of having, so I suggest you shut up or leave.

Shut up or leave, now that's what I call diplomacy!!!!!

Re: I know why people love Jackson

Tony Simmons was a Booby Grier draft pick and even if Jackson turns into a bust, a Belichick and Pioli draft pick should never remind you of a Bobby Grier draft pick. Belichick and Pioli actually had people scouting prospects opposed to throwing darts at a dartboard full of prospects approach Grier had.

What I meant was a player with size, speed, potential picked in the 2nd RD at the same position who is all potential and no production.

Oh I see, unoriginal can make fun of me for having the opinion that Jackson is a bust, but when I say something back I can shut up or leave? I have not violated any rules, and you have no right to tell me to do anything! Sorry tough guy.....I'm not going anywhere, and your just gonna have to deal with it. If you don't like it, you can shut up or leave :snob::singing:

I think that cjack will be a bust.....all show and no go. I was hoping that he would flash something last week.

Hopefully I am wrong.

Let's at least give him until the end of his first healthy preseason before we declare him a bust.

After the year is over, we're having a crow party. You should stop by and eat some if Jackson has a successful year.

EDIT: and why are you so angry about being called a meathead? That's probably the worst insult I've ever seen. If I were you, I'd sit back and laugh at it and tell him to take that insult back to the 1950's where it belongs.

I think it was the part where you called me a typical Pats homer, not that you said something back.

I think Chad is done. He just doesn't work hard enough and he consitently makes bonehead plays in situations that should be routine to him now.

I would rather see Kelley Washington get a shot and either put Chad full-time on special teams or cut him.

I love Kelley Washington, don't get me wrong, and I'd like to see him get a chance at some real opportunities in the regular season, but he doesn't need the practice like Jackson does.

I want to see Jackson continue to get significant time in the next few games. Let him fail on the field, not on the bulletin board. One game was not enough.
