Pats Should Not Show Up To Day 2, Ever !!!

It's good to weed out the bandwagon fans early on in the year.

In addition to the names already mentioned, I have a second day pick for you:

TOM BRADY

This has to be one of the dumbest posts I have ever read on here. BB and SP's track record is incredible on the 2nd day. Maybe not last year, but traditionally it is great. The team is deep. It takes a lot to make a squad as a rookie when the team is so talented.

You really should think a long time before posting on here again.

Dear OP,
Thank you for your interest in New England Patriots Football.

Sincerely,
The Sane Members of the Board

If you're gonna go Offense, why not TE (we are thin at TE), Kellen Davis is still available,

You can pick up good tight ends later in the draft (witness: Giant's Boss)

I agree that we could use a blocking TE. No need to waste picks beyond the 5th on players like that which could be gotten in later rounds.

There is a reason why the Giants are SB champs, and we are not, and possibly heading in the opposite direction, as the Giants may be building a Dynasty. Pats pick a QB that will not help this team this year or the next (I don't buy us getting a #2 pick or certainly not a #1 for this guy, people were saying the same thing with Cassel, who not only will get us ZERO draft choices, but will probably get cut). If we are going to go offense, why not pick the guy the Giants picked, Mario Manningham ? The Giants understand Day 2, that's why they are the champs (Look at last years draft, and the start of this years). We can't seem to buy a clue on day 2, since 2002 (David Givens). Terrible pick with good CB's STILL on the board ! And don't give me that "We got Moss on day 2" crap ! We could have made a killing in round 3, that would have helped our team THIS yeear !! We could have have a third round of Dan Connor, Justing King & Tyvon Branch, instead we have a 2nd round pick NEXT YEAR (Brady will be a year OLDER by then), Crable (who I like) and a QB who may never play an NFL game. You can not tell me Conner, King & Branch isn't better than what we wound up with. Case closed !! So far, if I had to rate this draft, I give it a C-.

If you're gonna go Offense, why not TE (we are thin at TE), Kellen Davis is still available, or offensive line, which folded like a house of cards in the SB, or RB or WR, there are still some good ones left of all of these positions !. To pick this QB over a guy like CB Justin King is just a crime, and a sign that Beoli is losing it. I'm sorry guys, flame away. I know these guys know more about football, and prospects than I'll ever know, but these picks, or lack of picks (constant trading for future picks) is hurting us.

Just so I can plan accordingly, how many different threads are you going to post this same rant? thanks.

Ok - come clean. You're really a Giants fan right? I suggest a five day ban from posting on this site. Hopefully, this will give you enough time to come to your senses.

Hmmm, you're right, Sanders, Cassel and O'Callahan are big stars, I retract my statement.

They are good players for where they were drafted. Sanders is a second day of the draft starter. That is always a good pick in the second day if he turns into a starter.

Face it. Unlike the Giants, the Patriots didn't have the holes that would keep a lot of rookies on the roster. One of the downsides of being a consistent Super Bowl contender is that a lot of your second day draft picks don't make the team or stay long if they do.

Don't understand day 2 since 2002? How about Asante Samuel, James Sanders, Dan Koppen, Matt Cassel, Ryan O'Callaghan and Steven Gostkowski?

And some guy named Brady.

There is a reason blah blah blah I know more than BB and SP that is why I run my own NFL team blah blah.

yaeh yaeh yaeh....please go and tell me about the MAYBE giants "dynasty".
The Giants can go their direction and U go with them. Lovely weather and beer in my draftroom here over in germany. so enjoy your day and sleep well with your "MAYBE" Giants dynasty.

I'm not too mad about the selection of a QB in the 3rd round because this draft is very weak. The first thing that came to my mind when the Pats selected a QB was "wow, the Pats must think this draft really sucks to take a QB that early".

However, what bothers me more is the Pats taking small cornerbacks.

Hey Scott 99, here is a suggestion.. either become a Giants fan as they entering their "dynasty" phase or just be a homer and become a 49'er's fan. This will prove to be a pretty good draft for the Pats.. hate to tell you all the time they spend in the film room, they are not watching cartoons.. they have studied a lot of players and these are the ones they believe is best for this tem.

What does a fluke catch off the helmet have to do with the second day of the draft? Was that helmet picked in the 5th round or something?

Seriously, I'm not sure what's more entertaining:

Some of the things being posted here over the last two days or;

The drama queens that pollute game day threads.

If anyone wants the fax machine number to the Pats FO, shoot me a PM. Keep your resume to one page, no bold face type (irritates the hell out of Bill, so bad mojo) and be sure to use sans sarif font. They really dig on that. When you get your offer, be sure to insist on primo season tickets, as I expect some kind of compensation for saving our franchise from the certain demise so many of you are predicting.

If I remember right, Tom Brady was a young, raw QB taken in the 6th round to groom and see if he could be something more one day. I think that worked out pretty well. Of all of Beoli's draft picks, taking a 2nd day flier on a young QB should be the one that is unquestioned. They've got a pretty good track record in that area.

They weren't looking like a dynasty in week 12 when they were being pasted by the Vikings. They were the better team on SB Sunday but talk of a Giants dynasty is a little hasty, don't you think?

What is so great about Day 2 Giants drafts? Jaocbs, Torbor, Cofield, Diehl and Tuck are pretty much it since the 2002 draft. Above average to very good players, but none of these guys went to the Pro Bowl.

Koppen and Samuel went to the pro bowl.

Oh crap! Now to get back to the top, we have to get past the one-year Bucs dynasty, the one-year Pittsburgh dynasty, the one-year Colts dynasty, AND, now, the one-year Giants dynasty! Who did I miss...

I'm pretty certain "oh no the Giants rushed way better than we blocked in the big game!" will continue to be read as incredibly long-lasting and significant. To your eye it may become nigh-insurmountable.

But I'm pretty sure you also believe "Oh my God! The Colts have TWO guys that can spin around in a circle!!!!" is in-depth analysis.

We're the team to beat, Junior. Still. Relax and let one of the gold standard war rooms around the league do their jobs.

PFnV

I'm voting for PFnV to be cloned for this board and scott99 to get sterilized!

I appreciate your comments, I really do. But I've been a Pat's fan since 1975, and have lived in America my whole life, so I believe I have a right to voice my opinion. My disappointment over draft choices doesn't make me any less of a Pat's fan than anybody here, neither does where I live (no longer in SF, I'm in NYC). I've never been a 49'er fan, in fact I was rooting against them in every SB they were in. As far as the Giants, I just admire the draft choices they've made in the last few years, guys like Brandon Jacobs, a 4th round pick, Ahmad Bradshaw, a 7th round pick last year, In fact 6 of their 8 picks contributed in hurting us last year. I'm also disappointed in the way some of the draft choices have gone the last two years. For example, last year I would have loved to have seen the Pats draft David Harris with the second 1st round pick, we traded that pick which turned out to be SF's #1 pick, which turned out to be Jerod Mayo. I love the Mayo pick, but there is no doubt Harriis is a stud, he showed that last year. There is no guarantee that Mayo will be a better ILB than Harris. So was it a good move, only time will tell. Obviously I hope Mayo will become the better player.

Anyone who disagree's with the Patriot braintrusts picks get's destroyed here. I understand that, but I just think the Pat have missed the boat th last few years on some great players on the second day.
