Is anybody going to the NFL draft? I plann on going to the draft and was trying to see how many people will make the trip.

You cannot buy advanced tickets. You show up day of early in the morning (I think it used to be 9am when the draft started at 12noon. Since it starts at 3 this year, I am not sure.

Anyways, you just have to get inline to get tickets.

I was also thinking of going.

What does everyone do for a hotel? I'm sure there are many close by but that might be $$$.

Any hotel in NYC is going to run $$$. The best way to get tickets ( if you plan ahead) is to attend day two of the draft from start to finish. These 'day 2 diehards' as the NFL calls them get a ticket for day 1 of the next year's draft. There are no lines on day 2 and you're lucky if there are 500 people in total. We were about 15-20 from the ESPN set and it was interesting to watch the behind the scenes goingons when they were not on the air....
We've gone to day 2 the last year and got tickets for this year's draft. The NFL is trying to crack down on people scalping these complementary tickets so you have to show photo identification to use them. I received a letter from the NFL the other day asking if I wanted the tickets and telling me to bring the photo identification.
My avatar is taken from the very top and very back row of Radio City Music Hall the first year we went. We lined up at 3pm on Friday afternoon to get a wristband at midnight that allowed us to get on line at 6 am Saturday. With a ticket, we stroll right in on Saturday without waiting on line. IIRC there are 5000 seats and most of the lower level is reserved for corporate sponsors and bigwigs.....They do give out goodie bags with a radio that receives simulcast of the ESPN and NFLN feeds of the draft and there are contests to see who can be the most accurate in predicting the picks with decent prizes...

You know, this whole thing is televised.

If anything, a better idea for Pats fans is to attend the Pats Draft Day party. At least there, you get to hear coaches, execs and the players talk about the draft.
