2008 Offense As of Now

We had the #1 offense of all time in 2007, and almost everyone is back. The front office got the job done!

I think we could use a short yardage RB and a right side OL (especially if Neal isn't 100%), but that is really small stuff.

WIDE RECEIVERS
We lost Stallworth, but he was the #4 by year's end. Washington and Jackson should compete for the #4 reps, but there may few (barring injury). Brady, Moss, Welker and Gaffney should be even more in synch.

SPECIAL TEAMS
2) We've added special teamers Eckel and Aiken since the beginning of 2007. It is not clear that either makes the team. The spots may not be there.

TIGHT ENDS
3) We have Thomas who was inactive all last year (until he was put on IR) to repalce Brady. We also have Spach who was here only part of last year. The TE spot should be improved.

THE REST
We will have Morris back.

The only major possible improvements are at the offensive tackle spots, and also to give McDaniels weekly oral quizzes on how to diagnose and recognize offensive problems, how to attack tough defenses, and how he would respond to these offensive problems or defensive successes.

Certainly, better blocking from TE position is needed (it sure was needed in the SB).

Better blitz recognition and reaction from our OC is also important. When they keep on coming, change it up, draws, play action, three step drops, no huddle - they need to do everything they did not do in the SB. Mix it up...

This offense is talented and stacked a true powerhouse. It simply should never be stopped by any defense or scheme.

I hope they stop drafting TE's so high. Watson has never lived up to potential and most likely never will and Thomas can't stay on the field. Graham was a damn good blocker but wasnt he an early 20's pick? Seems a little pricely for a blocker.

For God's sake, can we please put this to rest? His rookie season he was stuck behind two first-round draft picks, but still played in 15 of 16 regular-season games (mostly on ST). This year, he was rushed back to the field (they wanted him out there badly enough that they held a spot on the 53-man roster for him), and re-aggravated his injury.

All three of those players you mentioned are questionable blockers from what I read. It seems like this years class hangs it's hat on their receiving skills. The best blocking prospect imo is Martellus Bennett. Not the size of Brady, but he has strong fundamentals. Which seem to be lacking in this years draft class. Knowing the Pats, they'll probably end up taking some OL from division II that we've never heard of to play TE.

you might be right....I doubt either falls to 7 but due to potential injury factor the RB might be more likely to fall. but again I think both are top 5.

Yea, that guy is a mauler too. He reminds me of a really big fullback
