Yes,this loss hurt. And yes, last years loss in the AFCCG hurt.

But as a 30+ year Patriots fan it's time to put this into prospective. Before 2001 all I wanted was one Super Bowl Championship in my life time. This team has given me three. More than I ever expected.

Also, this team has given me great season after great season. I can remember the -1-15 and 2-14 seasons. Also I can remember when this team was the laughing stock of the NFL, maybe in all of sports. I can remember when the fear of losing our team to another region was a reality.

All any fan should expect from their team is to compete for championships. To win a championship is hard and sometimes takes good fortune, as we saw with the Giants with that 83 yard drive.

So, I'm ready to move on from this season knowing that this team has good players, good coaches, and good ownership to provide us with great seasons for the foreseeable future.

Many fans of other teams,if they are being honest, would love to be in the position of us Patriots right now.

stop trying to convince yourself that the loss is ok because they won 3 other SB's. if you're gonna do that you might as well just stop watching football. you are trying to minimize the loss.

in reality the time to move on will be the franchise tag day, then free agency, and things will get better draft day.

I've found I struggle to forget certain things until I get chance to rectify them, but thats just my competative nature. This loss will probrably still annoy me until we win another championship and shut people up. Right now we've lost, we need to regroup and come back strong next season and only till I've witnessed we've achieved that will I settle.

I can't agree with you here. Sure, I would have liked to be 3 time Superbowl champs, but looking ahead... no. The Pats have a lot of rebuilding to do, especially on defense. The whole team started to show its age towards the end of the regular season. And looking at this board... I'm shocked to see that people are actually HAPPY that Harrison is coming back... time to move on bro. He doesn't have another season and playoff run in him.

And you are a fan of which team?

You are damn right I'm happy to see Rodney come back.

Now by the end of the regular season, do you mean the last 6 games (6-0) the last 5 games (5-0) or the last 4 games? (4-0)

I'll be sure to reference this exact post by you in the playoffs this year. ;)

Funny you use the word "re-building" with a team coming off the best offensive season in NFL history and a 4th ranked defense. Sure we'll need to make some changes on defense, primarily our DBs - but using the word "re-building" is ridiculous.

No he's right, 18 wins was alright but it's time to join the Dolphins and start rebuilding.

Maybe we can squeak a Wild Card spot out next year.

You're being serious?

A Bills troll!!

I happen to know a guy who was a coach on the Bills staff during their 4 straight bridesmaids years. I can report with certainty he would have given his right nut just to have one of those championships.

PS To the OP, i'm right with you...it was a great season, with a heartbreaking ending, but I'm excited for the future. Of the 31 teams who didn't win the superbowl, our team's season is the one i'd want and am glad to have. Thankfully BB/TB have many more seasons to bring back the title and i'm thinkin '08 is a damn good year to get it!

Bills average age on the team... 26. Last year we went 7-9 with 17 players on IR, including 11 starters. We are on the rise, and the Pats are just getting old. That's why I think it's time to move on with Harrison.

Good point. But they weren't exactly setting the world on fire like they did in the begining of the season.

Please do, because I will be here. You are a good bunch over here.

I was more talking about the defense, but the offense isn't a bunch of spring chickens either.

Your DBs aren't in as bad a shape as your LBs. Losing Samuel will hurt, but how many of the LBs will still be on the team in 2 years? Probably none. If the Pats are smart, they will rebuild the D sooner rather than later.

stop trying to convince yourself that the loss is ok because they won 3 other SB's.

I also put little stock in the 3 SBs anymore. It's a nice memory, but that's it. I would have loved to have won more recent than the Steelers and Colts. But Ben and Payton have won more recent than Tom. I don't throw the 3 SBs in opposing fan's faces. It's old news to me and old news to them.

We have the greatest QB/coach of all-time right now.

Any season short of a Super Bowl is a disappointment, we must seize all possible opportunities while we are still blessed to have them leading our favorite team.

10 years from now I don't want to have more "What could have been..." memories then good ones.

Back to back seasons consisting of 21-3, and 18-1 will certainly forever be remembered as "What could have been..." seasons.

How many "Move On" threads is too many or too grating?

Anyone who has not moved on should seek private therapy and stop using the board as their therapists. I'm guessing most have moved on ... the ones who make these inane threads have not.

If the Giants had sucked and won I might understand it all. But they did not suck ... their "D" played great. So instead of these stupid threads how about a "What The Giants Did To win" thread ... that will help even the thickest brained homer move on.

.

I would say about 3 more "move on threads" as we are still getting many threads from posters who still want to relive the past.:D

I'm in NY...I need extra therapy, pal. And who made 'you' the thread police........?

Getting over it is going to take more than a week for a lot of us. This was a train wreck on so many levels and they are still pulling out body parts out and going over dental records. I still hear the voices of the Giants fans gleefully chanting "18 and 1 !!!!" as we numbly trudged out of the stadium. We will get over it at some point but unfortunately I don't think we will ever forget it.
