Now I do expect alot of fuss here, but tis the season to throw out new ideas. We all know what BB looks for in a ILB, and we wont draft one. With such a high pick a quality DL is a very likely scenario.....here is the question:

How would you guys think Seymour would fit in a 2 yr transition to ILB? He is smart, big(but athletic) and somewhat versitile. Now if he loses a step and we can get a younger speed guy to replace him at end....Shoot, if we can get a guy like Taylor(or other veterans) he can cover there as well. What I am saying is that we need as many quality players on the field, and that our ILB system may just be flexible enough to accomodate him. What do you think?

Two years?

I'd rather take my chances beefing up someone like Rodney.

If/when #93 "loses" a step, why try to convert him to a position where'd he be required to make more of them?

My crazy idea for the future, particularly if a DL is drafted in round 1, is to evolve to a hybrid ILB system. Fans believe BB is fond of old-school big, tough guys. Meanwhile, the game is transitioning towards lighter, speedy guys.

I see more bleeding between safety and ILB prototypes and responsibilities. Perhaps a bruising, run-stopping guy covering the middle zone with a speedier roamer doing things like Rodney does now.
