just saw a link that said BBaringer will miss the beginning of the season...

hate wasting a roster spot... hopefully we can play the practice squad revolving chairs game with whoever we sign, and that BBaringer will be back before we run out of call ups

If not...we need to have punter try outs this week and have the punter suit up on Thursday with Ashby to get the timing down....

The Pats will likely put Baringer on IR at Roster cut-downs. This will allow him to return during the season.

I doubt they're going to IR him so he's lost for they year. They can IR him at cut-downs and still bring him back. Which is what I'm guessing they'll do.

But here I was, hoping for Tommy Tupa, mark 2. It's not ENTIRELY without precedent in NFL history, either. Cowboys QB Danny White was also their punter while he was there. From 1976 to 1984, he QBed and punted. When he became the starting QB in 1980, following Staubach's retirement, he became the last starting QB to also be the starting punter.

Tupa was definitely one of those 'roster specials' that Parcells and Belichick loved. 2 positions for the price of 1!
