I'm still wrapping my head around how you go 31-46 and then 31-5 in the same season.
Everyone references 1914 Braves, last place on July 4th at 26-40, they went 68-19 to win the pennant and World Series.

Its the uniform.

In lieu of the Sox 30-5 run people are forgetting the OTHER remarkable story in the AL east. The TB Rays. The Pats have won 6 in a row and are 9-2 and 4 straight series against some of the best teams in baseball and have gained about 1 game on the Rays during that time. The Dodgers have close to $2Billion dollars in deferred money while STILL having the highest payroll in baseball, while the Rays payroll is at 107MM the lowest by far in the AL East. Yankees at $308MM, BlueJays at 280MM, Sox at just under $200MM, Orioles at $168MM and Rays at the 107MM mentioned. So, the Rays are beating the Yanks by SIX games while having a THIRD of the money and the Sox who are spending TWICE the money. And they are fielding good teams almost every year in a town that doesn't care.

Has anyone ever suggested that it might be a good idea to perhaps hire a GM with experience at TB

I can think of 2 off the top of my head, the '79-80 Celtic season, Bird's first when they went from 29 wins to 60 wins. Early on somebody asked Elvin Hayes (IIRC) what he thought of the Celtics and his response was, " come talk to me after they win 29 wins" They did and more than doubled it.
The other was Patriots 2001 season from early November on when they started clicking and everybody thought this is a pretty good team but nobody ( and if they tell you otherwise they are full of crap) thought they would hoist a Lombardi.
I admit that being a long time Pats fan and seeing too much heartache, I honestly thought Adam V's kick vs Rams was going to be blocked and taking the other way for a TD and a Rams victory. Thankfully it wasn;t.

I admit that being a long time Pats fan and seeing too much heartache, I honestly thought Adam V's kick vs Rams was going to be blocked and taking the other way for a TD and a Rams victory.

Wow, that’s bad man.

I didn’t have it quite that bad, but I will admit that in the tuck rule game, when it seems like the Pats might’ve lost the ball, it just felt like oh well, this is now as it should be, it was a feeling we were so used to.

And as I’ve said before, when the kick in the Super Bowl went through the uprights I very nearly blacked out, and I’m not even kidding.

That was the beauty of this. They needed to come back in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th and they did. Down 4-0 in the 3rd and tied at 5 after 4. Just seemed to have an air of inevitability around it.
