McD at the top of his game

I never even saw the " skippy" nickname, my comment stems from the captain calling for a moderator to step in when someone criticized Jackson Dart, and then, in literally his next post calling WNBA players " nappy headed hoes." He's an ignorant racist ****, who, like Sam, is incapable of saying anything good about anything, and only posts here to share the misery that is his life.

As far as the skippy nickname goes I don't know of any pejorative meaning for it, other than possibly dipshit,
Fair enough.

Where he shat the bed with unimaginative play-calling, which was my original point.

You have to win the fistfight to be able to execute, and the Patriots lost all of the fistfights on offense that day. It didn't matter what he called, they simply were not going to be able to execute it.

Huck, I won’t argue with your supposition/conclusion IN GENERAL. But using „Skippy“ nickname as evidence thereof is ********.

Skippy is an diminutive (childlike) designation of GUYS who DRESS like East-coast prep school trust-fund babies. Possibly like the are trying to dress like the captain of a yacht, but ar3 too young to have earned on their own.

For the homophobic interpretation being taken, the person putting that on the nickname needs to look in the mirror.
I really don't know the meaning of the nickname or why it was given. I've had to ask the significance to Captain on some of the other nicknames in the past.

I think it’s primarily just cause he thinks it’s funny (has some merit) and probably came from Josh's dressing style (particularly when not on sidelines) cause he had on sweaters in a couple pictures I recall that would go towards that preppy look.

Gawd, we are still way to close to the offseason if this is a major sub-conversation. lol.

For many years McDaniels has been consistently outcoached against the better defenses in the league. Athletic defenses that are able to neutralize quick passes to the slot often stump him and you can see the confusion on his face and he doesn't have any creativity for the running game. If Tom wasn't "TOM BRADY" we would have been embarrassed against the Seahawks and Atlanta.

Our offensive line didn't hold up the entire playoffs but I thought with two weeks to plan that McDaniels would have a better showing in the superbowl but he looked completely unprepared. Maye's ability to run didn't even come into play. I put alot of our loss squarely on McDaniels. Ranking him in the top 10 is too high imo.
Well said …..McD generally makes poor decisions at the worst moments, does not do well making adjustments early on or coming out of the half and yes gets out coached frequently. I’ve never been a huge fan of his but Vrabel wants him so hopefully things will go better this year!

I respect your opinions and I see your points. In summary I feel if/when we make another deep post season run this year Josh will be a hot HC candidate. I actually think should Josh leave the next OC is Todd downing.
I don’t think any team is in a rush to hire Josh….he has unfortunately been a dismal failure as a HC and is better as an OC even though as I’ve said alot wouldn’t be my choice for OC….hopefully this year will be better for him

I get it but I have felt this way about McDaniels for over a decade now. I was hoping the run game would change with the talk of incorporating plays from McVay etc but it was mostly the same. Just not enough growth from McDaniels imo and he doesn't seem to learn. Like remember when we embarrassed the Jets in every single way only for them to shut down everything we did well in the rematch and knocked us out of the playoffs. I don't feel Josh is capable of self reflection and doing anything similar to that and it will all be on Maye to overcome Josh's limitations.

Josh is a classic bully who consistently beats up the weaker teams and that will get to the playoffs but will get outcoached in the post season. I know most will disagree but I honestly think we should be actively searching for someone to replace Josh. We may have the guy in-house already similar to Zak Kuhr.
Agreed

Yeah that's basically it, and it goes back to at least the 2008 season... I was *****ing about something as usual, and might've mentioned the difference between him & Charlie Weis and how McD looked like a prep-school kid in comparison and what would be a good name for him; and I believe it was PatsWickedPissah who suggested Skippy... So there ya go.

this is a silly take on the coach

the designated smartest guy in the room, Bill, came back to McD, what, 3 seperate times?
he has been outcoached between 2-5 games per season for well over a decade as the teams OC, yet that would mean he has outcoached the other teams defense between 12-15 games per season

Josh was making half time game plan/scheme adjustments before anyone knew what halftime adjustments were.

look at the winning percentages. playoff wins. SB rings. different QB's he has won with. various types of offenses he has won with. pass heavy. run heavy. slot. double TE. experienced QB. rookie QB.

McD wins.

the criticism is unwarranted and foolish
