This one STILL pisses me off. It looks like he isn't going to be suspended again even though the 6 games he got was a about half what he should have. He got a ridiculously soft sentence to start with. Who even heard about getting a 30-day sentence and then being allowed to serve it a day at a time, whenever you feel like it. And then he BROKE parole.

But I forget myself. I forgot who he plays for. For them no penalty is the usual penalty.

So ****ing glad he's no longer here.

Disagree, captain. Mac Jones is a decent player and a good person who was caught in the collapse of the Belichick autocracy. They would have been much better off keeping him as a backup than Jacoby "Oh, that barn door -- sorry" Brissett.

Disagree completely. Mac Jones is a poor QB, a dirty player, and a lousy teammate. He can only function in Shanahans dunk and dunk system. He repeatedly pulled dirty **** on the field as a Patriot. And he was such a bad teammate that the patriots had to find a different room for Bailey Zappe to watch film in because Jones was such a **** to him. I would never want him on this team again.

Mac had a lot of issues when he was here. Fake injuries, cheap shots on other players, etc. Maybe he has cleaned up his game, but .........

The only DT in the NFL better at splitting double teams than Christian Barmore…. just saying.
Jeffery Simmons is a beast. Everyone knows this. And he’s not an old has-been, like some think AJ Brown is heading in a year or two. People on here are not going to want him getting paid a year from now.

I see 1400 yards assuming health. It’s a tough gauntlet of defenses and a new offense, so there might be hiccups… but it makes this team better.

They had to, and still have to, blitz as much as they did because the talent wasn't, and still isn't, where it needs to be... Far from it in fact.
Having Williams available more will reduce the need to blitz in the 2nd year of the new system. Also, having Spillane playing more game will help, unless you actually liked seeing Gibbens play instead.

The BOTTOM LINE is that we were a very good Defense for the first 10 games when both Williams and Spillane were available. Their health should help this year, as well as the addition of Byard.

They were arguably the most talented defense in the NFL postseason. The defense carried the offense.

They blitzed more in the playoffs because it was the playoffs.

They also had issues earlier in the season with zone coverage... that had nothing to do with "talent." Other than Jaylinn Hawkins wasn't the backfield leader or brain they hoped he could be, but by the Super Bowl Craig Woodson was looking more like that. Kevin Byard will teach Woodson the finer points of zone coverage this season.

The Patriots D had the 12th highest sack percentage in the entire NFL regular season.

The used the blitz sparingly... it wasn't an inability or lack of talent.

I like an aggressive offense, so I’m okay with a lot of blitzing. I hope they continue to blitz as the talent they have to work with improves. If blitzing improves results when talent is lacking it should provide even more improvement with better talent.

I like when teams get aggressive and pick spots to blitz because the BB "wait and let the opposing team make a mistake" game plan wasn't working and was quite boring. Every once in a while you have to throw in some splash plays to throw the offense off.

But it's without question they are doing this because the overall pass rush isn't very good.

I checked over at PFT to see what's up in the NFL today and saw an article that IMMEDIATELY pissed me off not end. One of my 7th round binkies was Uar Borden, An athletic freak of a DLman that was found in Nigeria on the international program. I had seen a couple of articles about him in the run up to the draft and thought, "that's the kind of kid you take at the end of the draft and incubate him a couple of years and you might wind up with a special player, like the Eagles did with their stellar OT from Australia. Instead, WE pick, a slap-**** LB from BC who offered the OPPOSITE athletic profile and less than zero chance to make the roster. A truly wasted pick.

I normally don't complain about the front office like some, AND thought they did a great job the first 2 days of the draft and in the off season, but the 3rd day left me cold, and the BC pick was the last straw with our last 6 picks, with maybe the exception of Crownover. (all the OTA's HAVE made me feel better about Prounty based on reports that he was "sticky" in coverage. We shall see when the pads come on. But back to the point.

This article just gushed about how freakishly big strong and fast Borden was and just made me feel worse about our lack of any creativity and imagination we had at the end of the 3rd day with our picks. Just sayin'
