The AJ Brown trade is in the books. Our 2028 1st round pick is now a sunk cost. Hopefully Brown will make it pay off.
The Pats 2026 plan is mostly complete. They've upgraded at WR (Brown, Doubs), OL (AVT, Lomu, Crownover), TE/FB (Raridon, Gilliam; Hill going to IR sucks), EDGE (Jones, Jacas) and S (Bynum). Compared to 2024 the roster is night and day.
I'd still like to see a couple of moves for 2026:
1. EDGE. I suspect Harold Landry's knees are completely shot. Not expecting anything from him, his contract makes him uncuttable until 2027. We could use 1 more EDGE. A veteran signing like Cloney is possible, but I'd like to see:
*** Pats trade Kayshon Boutte and a 2026 6th to either the NY Giants (Kayvon Thibodeaux) or the Arizona Cardinals (Josh Sweat).
2. LB. Back to my "damn Eliot Wolf for not signing Leo Chenal" line. We need better depth at LB. Gotta find somebody. Anybody.
Address those 2 needs, and the Pats are up there with the Rams and Seahawks as the best team in the NFL for 2026 going into yhe season, IMO.
