2027 Mock Drafts

Got the following with PFSN simulator:

*** Traded 25 and 192 to Arizona for 33 and 65

33. Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia. Carlton Davis replacement, will form an elite CB tandem with Christian Gonzalez.

*** Traded 57 and 204 to Cleveland for 68 and 103.

65. Will Echoles, IDL, Ole Miss. Christian Barmore replacement.

68. Yhonzae Pierre, LB/EDGE, Alabama. Can play SAM LB or EDGE. Explosive, violent, will pair well with Gabe Jacas and Dre'Mont Jones.

*** Traded 89 to Cincinnati for 97 and 155.

97. Carter Smith, OL, Indiana. Will kick inside to RG, completing OL rebuild. Mike Onwenu replacement. I would probably swap Caleb Lomu and Will Campbell, for an OL of Lomu - AVT - Wilson - Smith - Campbell.

103. Koi Perich, S, Oregon.

124. Ty Benefield, S, LSU. You need 3 safeties. Woodson, Perich and Benefield would be an incredible group.

154. Terrance Carter, TE, Texas Tech. Hunter Henry replacement. Raridon / Carter / would be a strong TR group.

155. Arion Carter, LB, Tennessee. Christian Elliss replacement.

163. Tony Rojas, LB, Penn St. Eventual Robert Spillane successor. Yhonzae Pierre, Arion Carter and Rojas would be a very athletic and versatile LB core.

188. Nyck Harbor, WR, S. Carolina. Moonshot.

200. Mark Fletcher, RB, Miami. Rhamondre Stevenson replacement.

Of course, this is all completely unrealistic. But every position group would be loaded.

Obviously an amazing mock. It does demonstrate how potentially exciting this draft is.

I do have one very hot take though. **Come next April, Nyck Harbor will be the highest drafted from that list.** Now I don't really believe that, but if he was to get his sh!t together, it could actually happen. Also, it probably needs Ellis Robinson to not declare.

I was going to have a go at a mock using pick 32 and NFL Mock Draft Database as my guide and I couldn't get past the first pick. How am I meant to decide between....

32. Kelley Jones
33. Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa
37. Charlie Becker
38. Koi Perich
40. Sammy Brown
42. Will Echoles
43. Omarion Miller
45. OJ Frederique
49. Yhonzae Pierre

And that doesn't include Jordan Ross, Kewan Lacey and Tae Johnson.

I just can't choose between them yet. I could do 5-8 different run throughs and pick a different one each time.

If the Football Gods are listening, one [preferably both] of Chism and Dixon will be the Patriots' version of Becker.

Nyck Harbor is not one of my "guys". Happy for someone to draft him early and push others down. Happy to take a day 3 moon shot on him.

Mocks are very different purposes. Ones at this time of year are just to explore who is out there.

You have to use some board, and boards are all over the place. We know that guys ranked in the 200s won't stay there.

Playing with PFSN mock simulators. Pats are on the clock at 25, with 2 trade offers:

1. 25 and 192 to Arizona for 33 and 65
2. 25 to Cleveland for 36 and 68

The following players are on the board (not exhaustive):

13. Jamari Johnson, TE, Oregon
21. Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana
25. A'Mauri Washington, IDL, Oregon
29. Kade Pieper, IOL, Iowa
35. Cayden Green, OL, Missouri
36. Jelani McDonald, S, Texas
37. Trey'Dez Green, YE, LSU
44. Nick Marsh, WR, Indiana
49. Peter Clarke, TE, Temple
66. Will Echoles, IDL, Ole Miss
71. Yhonzae Pierre, EDGE, Alabama
77. Kelley Jones, CB, Mississippi St.
83. Zach Lutmer, S, Iowa

Your current Day 2 picks are 57 and 89.

Do you take the trade, and if so, which? If not, who do you pick?

If you take the trade, you almost certainly miss out on Jamari Johnson and Charlie Becker, but you still have a shot at Trey'Dez Green, Peter Clarke, or Nick Marsh. And at 57 and 65/68 you might be able to snag both Will Echoles and Yhonzae Pierre, or a DB like Kelley Jones or Zach Lutmer.

So would you rather have:

A. 25 Jamari Johnson/Charlie Becker + 57 Will Echoles/Yhonzae Pierre

B. 33 Trey'Dez Green/Nick Marsh + 57 Will Echoles + 65 Yhonzae Pierre/Kelley Jones

Hard to argue against B but I'd lean A because I think Johnson/Becker are a step up from Green/Marsh. At least for Patriots' purposes.

Very tough call.

I took Jamari Johnson at 25. BPA on my board.

The following players are off the board at 57:

26. A'Mauri Washington
28. Charlie Becker
29. Kade Pieper

86. Ben Roberts, LB, Texas Tech
88. Kyngstonn Viliamu-asa, LB, Notre Dame
104. Carter Smith, OL, Indiana
113. Koi Perich, S, Oregon

Do you take the trade? If not, who do you pick?

I'm tempted by Pierre but I think we can get an EDGE 3 later. Getting LB 1 or 2 makes sense here. Viliamu-Asa for me. Dropping 11 places is quite a long way so I wouldn't trade.

You were right.

I took the trade, and Viliamu-asa went off the board at 60. I was cursing.

But overall I was pretty happy:

25. Jamari Johnson, TE, Oregon
68. Yhonzae Pierre, EDGE, Alabama
89. Ben Roberts, LB, Texas Tech
104. Carter Smith, OL, Indiana
124. Ty Benefield, S, LSU

I wish.

After the top 100 you can pretty much game the simulator. I added Ja'bril Rawls, Boubacar Traore, Duce Robinson, Arion Carter. Mark Fletcher and Jamel Johnson. Ludicrous. That would be a decent draft in itself.

I basically traded Kyngstonn Viliamu-asa for Yhonzae Pierre and Ben Roberts (I would have used 89 on Carter Smith without the trade). I'm content with that, but next time I'd probably take Viliamu-asa at 57.

I find these exercises useful, because they refine my priorities and decision making.

KVA is moving up on my wish list quickly. Mike Renner has him as his #8 defensive prospect right now, and I could see him moving up boards fast if he is healthy.

If 2026 teached us anythin is that those 5 guys will be top 20 by April 27.

The top 20 for 2027 may be loaded. I'm assuming 5 QBs go, and that 2 WRs (Smith, Coleman), 2 OTs (Seaton, Goosby), 1 CB (Moore), 1 DT (Stone) and 2 EDGEs (Simmons, Stewart) go top 15. That's 13 players, with the Pats likely picking in the 25-32 range. I would expect an OT or 2 to emerge as well.

My very rough short list for the Pats right now looks something like:

- TE Jamari Johnson
- CB Ellis Robinson IV
- DT Ahmad Moten
- DT Will Echoles
- DT A'Mauri Washington
- LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-asa
- LB Sammy Brown
- WR Charlie Becker
- S KJ Bolden
- S Jelani McDonald
- S Tae Johnson
- S Ty Benefield
- IOL Kade Pieper

I think WR Nick Marsh and another CB (OJ Frederique or Kelley Moore), S (Zach Lutmer), or OL could join the list.

I'm happy with that as a starting group for now, knowing that some new people will emerge over the next 6 months.

We know with near certainty that most of the guys we identify early will move up. We were well ahead of the pack last year with Fernando Mendoza, David Bailey, Arvell Reese, Sonny Styles, Mansoor Delane, Monroe Freeling, Max Iheanachor, Akheem Mesidor, Dillon Thieneman, Treydan Stukes, Jacob Rodriguez and Jake Golday.

Based on recent history, I expect at least 8 OL to go in the first round, of which at least 6 will be OT. I don’t even need the names now, it simply happens every year.

Well I'd say 7 because we've been one of the eight. hopefully that's over.

Hard not to see something like this.

Goosby and Seaton locks.

Other possibilities:

- Austin Siereveld
- Cayden Green
- Carter Smith
- Kade Pieper
- PJ Williams
- Jacarrius Peak

Possible risers:

- Ian Moore
- Elijah Moore
- Blake Frazier

I see Lance Heard is at Kentucky now. And aren't you missing a certain Stanford binky?
