DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft Day 3

Why do we need the random ass international fans that nobody knows who they are to give long thank you messages like they’re accepting a Best Picture award or something? Dude you’re just some random guy from Europe who is announcing a draft pick. Please get on with it.

Bro thinks he’s actually entitled to his full 15 minutes of fame.

Every year there are interesting fallers in round 4. Teams just fall in love with traits over those more proven 2nd tier players. I understand the reasoning... but i think the trend for looking for traits has gone too far.

It is the massive amount of data out there. RAS is just the tip. These teams have advanced math systems with gigs of data that calculate value of players based on these factors. The problem with that is players and particularly the agents have learned what traits have extra value. They train for the pro days and combine to move their numbers up just a tic in key metrics to hit the algorithms the NFL likes.

An agent will whisper in a players ear 'move your 40 time up just .02 more. Or work these next 3 months on your broad jump to get a few more inches... ect. You and I know it is happening. It does not reflect what they do on the field but how they have trained the last 3 months. to tilt things in their favor and hit those numbers to fit a higher value profile.

There needs to be a correction on emphasizing tape over numbers. Being a slave to the numbers means you are at risk of being manipulated by them.

As we're 2 or 3 picks behind on TV, how do you feel about announcing picks early?

Going to hate this next pick to Tampa.

Sarratt is great value there.

This 4th round is starting to suck. Some of 'my guys' going off the board.

Panthers won that trade IMO.

Considering this is the Steelers home draft, I got to say i don't love it. It is fine at best.

While I admit to a bit of hyperbole in my comment, it comes from a strong belief that by and large those picks in rounds 5-7 ARE largely developmental picks and you RARELY find anyone who will help you beyond ST's in their rookie season. That is why those 2 picks in the 4th were important to me. I see the need at LB for immediate help for THIS season.

Now I understand that those picks filled a use getting us our current 3 draftees, well that is not going to happen now and I don't want us picking a random developmental LB at the bottom of the draft just to "fill a need" when there might be a better prospect available. At this point it really should be all about BPA because its hard to figure out "needs" when you are talking 2 or 3 years down the road.

That being said, that list you provided (thanks) looks like there are several targets that could be used for a short term fix for this need. Names like Matt Milano, Logan Wilson, Devon Bush, or Bobby Okereke are just some of the names that popped off the list. Not the biggest names there but I wasn't looking for anyone over 32 for this short term job.

Thanks again for the list, it was a better group than I thought it would be.
Possibly but this draft might be a bit different in that the difference between 75 and 200 is more interchangeable. We'll see if it plays out that way but in all the mocks I've done and all the draft boards I've reviewed, I was amazed at how many players were rated top 100 on some boards and then 200+ on others.

I think we can stay put and still land some good contributors.
