Reiss: Vrabel will not be present day 3 of draft

so his counseling couldn't wait 1 more day? This seems odd

I initially thought the same thing, but as a previous poster pointed out, if you need to prove to your wife that she is more important than your job, you do something that proves it. Choosing her over an important day at the draft would do the trick.

It shows the team that he's willing to be accountable for his actions.

The money he earns he could get councelling any day of the year except a couple of Holidays, it didn't fall on Day 3 of the draft by accident.

He's not joe schmoe who could only get Saturday cause the therapist is fully booked, also people want their pound of flesh before they move on they want him to suffer some kind of public humiliation like she did, this is definitely it can't even go to the draft cause you were playing footsie with the reporter.
So this has nothing to do with saving his marriage and everything to do with PR? If your marriage was hanging by a thread, your wife came to you and said there's an opening on Saturday, and you say "ooooooh, that's not going to be a good day for me," how would that work out?

I am worried that Russini may not be the only woman Vrable was messing with and this could end up getting a lot more ugly ...

I would say sure, Saturday we can do it before the draft starts or after it finishes.

When you earn NFL coach money the opening is pretty much all day if you're willing to pay.

Also i've never heard of one session of counselling to fix a marriage, it's not like you go on draft Saturday and come out and it's all good and you're like newlyweds again you typically need like 12 weekly sessions or something like that.

So she's not going to be able to have him away from work every week it's going to fit around his job.

Who knows. The counceling could be for marriage and/or a sex addiction.

This is giving his wife control and allowing Vrabel to put his money where his mouth is by placing his marriage before his job.

When youre on parole things are going to be different in the future. Some of the freedom that Vrabel had is gone.
This has nothing to do with his wife. He could just do it the day after. This is all about the PR of him somehow putting his family first because he is giving up draft day 3. All smoke and mirrors.

But where is the good PR? Has this thread been a bunch of applause for the wonderful Coach Vrabel putting his family first?

I never said it was a good idea lol. In fact, this makes it so much worse. It annoys fans like me who just ignored this whole thing and did not care either way, puts more spotlight on his family, creates a bigger distraction for the team and gives the story more steam longer.

It's not about it being one session, it's about it possibly being the first session. Again, if he's trying to save his marriage, he has to agree with his wife. And offering a large amount of money to make the session a more convenient time probably won't make her swoon.

I am confused by this. I have no problem with anyone putting his family over his job, but this scandal is weeks old. Why does he need his therapy on one of the most important days of the offseason? Couldn't he have done this on a Saturday before or after the draft.

In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a huge deal. Draft boards are made. It isn't the first or second round where a guy the Pats didn't have on their board because they thought he would be gone by the time the Pats pick falls to them and they have to make a decision in the moment whether he would be a fit for the Pats. There isn't going to be a player available when the Pats pick in round 4 or 5 that Vrabel hasn't given his input. So the Patriots will know Vrabel's opinion on every player the Pats are going to select or pass on this Saturday. Wolf and Cowden are more of decision makers when it comes to trades anyway.

That said, it is a PR problem for the Pats and it does negatively affect the Patriots. Not having Vrabel does take away an important opinion in real time during the draft. This is becoming more of an issue for the Patriots than I expected, but I think it is more of a pothole than a crater.

If Vrabel is a serial cheater, that is a family issue, not a Patriots issue. There ain't that many women in the NFL press pool or the league. So odds are that other women would not be an issue from a team or league standpoint.

And although I would think much less of Vrabel as a person if he is a serial cheater, it won't affect me as him as a head coach. Belichick was always a miserable *******, but I loved him as a coach. There has been a lot of Patriots players who did far worse than cheating on their spouses that we rooted for. Same with every fan of every team.

And Belichick was a notorious adulterer even before he was hired in NE.

Feels like there may be more to this story that will be coming to light. Maybe more pictures or confirmation on who/why someone took them.

Found the PI.

For Vrabel I doubt it. The only woman Vrabel was ever connected to other than his wife was Dianna even before he was hired back here.

For Russini however I think it could be a very different story... I'm sure a lot of people are being quiet about this story in the mainstream sports media for a reason.

I think it's likely the Saturday counseling is part to keep him away from questions. Though I hope this counseling can help he and his wife repair the marriage.

I still think he made a huge mistake not being honest from the get go (Him Calling this situation laughable). Had he been honest originally and apologized for his actions with Russini, I think he'd be in a much better situation, because it would die down much quicker.

Feels like there is something because this story could have been washed away by the news cycle that will come from the draft. The only other thing I can think of is this being some way of trying to save his marriage. A "Look honey this means so much to me I will skip 1/3 of the draft" type of Hail Mary.
