2026 Mock Draft Thread

As an experiment I did a BPA draft on a few different simulators. No consideration was given to position, need or my own opinions. No trades. I just took the top rated player on the board at each pick. Here's the results.

Interesting. Nothing too outrageous. The two I'd have the most quibbles with are Mauigoa at 31 and Zakee Wheatley making it to 131. Aside from that, mostly feasible.

The trade offers in this make it too easy to load up on day 3 picks.

I like the Lomu and Rutledge picks. Don't know much about Moore but this ticks the boxes in terms of addressing need positions. Would have liked to see an earlier stab at WR somewhere though.
One of the things that makes me nervous about the WR position is how highly Skyler Bell of UConn is rated relative to others. The kid was a gamer for UConn, their entire offense other than the RB. But he is limited. Really good route runner, good hands, OK speeds, goes up strong for the ball. He plays the way S Smith of the Panthers used to play. But... players like this rarely translate to the NFL. Nothing really pops out to me after the first round.

I've been reading up on Dunker. Should be listed as a guard at this point. Read about 5-10 writeups and every single one says he is way too stiff to play tackle. They may be copying one another though.

He is, however, a top tier guard prospect along with Pregnon and Rutledge and Ioane.

I like Bisontis but the tackle to guard converts are interesting. Maybe we need to not draft and move the guys around too much after moving Wilson to guard didn't work out well?

Dunker just looks and plays like a mean wild man. This is why he intrigues people, but NOT at tackle.

I wonder about this Isaiah World fellow. He has all the measurables, but why is he rated so low? Raw? Doesn't play hard? Hmmmmm.

I don't think they're going to spend three of their first five picks on the OL. Not even sure about 2.
This was based on both BPA and need.

They MUST grab a tackle if he's there early because there won't be one we can use in the late 2nd round. Caleb Tiernan is the last of the guys who can help you in the next year or 2. After that, its all developmental.

This is a pretty weak draft. The 5th round is like drafting 7th rounders from previous years.

By the end of the 4th, you're just taking flyers on guys. This is why I took a tackle there. Maybe he'll be better than Marcus Bryant.

As for taking Rutledge, he's just a hot player right now coming off the Senior Bowl, and if we're going to move Wilson to center, we need a young guard, especially with Onwenu's future in question.

Unless Moses retires, developmental is fine. I'd be more than fine with Dametrious Crownover.

Mel Kiper pre-combine mock:

Not a fan of R Mason Thomas at 31, especially with Caleb Banks, TJ Parker, Lee Hunter, Max Iheanachor and Caleb Lomu all available.

Definitely would grab Lomu at 31 if the draft shakes out that way. I think Kiper is just going off conventional knowledge that Patriots need a pass rusher with that choice. The draft board will change a lot though as we get closer. Combine will shake rankings up for sure. There will also always be a handful of late risers that people didn't anticipate that could also push down some good players to us.

This mock is probably a little unrealistic because I might have taken advantage of the dumbest GMs in history to acquire Arvell Reese at pick #26. I moved up at only the cost of our 1st and 3rd once I saw him slipping down that draft board.

Other than that highway robbery of a draft pick I think we picked up some solid players. We double dipped at OL with Rutledge and Wright who are potential road graders, increasing our interior physicality.

I think we may have got a great fit with WR Omar Cooper Jr. in the 2nd. He's great at screens and racking up YAC. Aaron Anderson is small at 5'8 188 but he offers explosive downfield speed and is also a dangerous kick returner.

At TE Eli Raridon is a mammoth downfield threat at 6'7 250 and Ceuvas offers versatility to also play as H-back.

6' 195 lb CB Domani Jackson offers elite physical traits and recovery. He reportedly setting a 10.25 second 100m record and runs an estimated 4.28 yard 40 yard dash.

We also picked up a solid 6'3 210 lb db in VJ Payne for safety depth.

So how did I do? Did I pick any of your binkies? Would you be satisfied with this draft or do you feel there was someone else I could have taken at some of these spots instead?

While I'd love your first two picks, they're totally unrealistic so moving on.

I really like your two TE picks along with VJ Payne. Rutledge is excellent too but I think he's more of a strict RG so it depends on what happens with Onwenu. Wright, Jackson and Anderson I'm more ambivalent about, mostly because I haven't spent a lot of time on them.

Payne and Raridon would be the closest to being binkies for me, but aren't quite there yet.
