It's the offseason so all kinds of rumors are flying around. The past few days there has been speculation that AJ Brown could be traded. And guess what our Patriots could be his final destination.

Article: A.J. Brown trade rumors: Steelers, Patriots among 5 best fits, likely landing spots for Eagles WR | Sporting News

There's no doubt a bona fide #1 might take this offense to the next level. Obviously OL is still the biggest need but we also didn't do much with our pass catchers when facing elite defenses. Diggs was very quiet in the playoffs. But so was Maye. Perhaps AJ Brown can be the difference maker.

How much would he cost. Our 1st round pick or would it be a 2nd plus extras?

Finally Brown might need a new contract if he comes over. The way it is structured now is very weird. He only counts for 1m in salary but his option bonuses are 17m, 21m, and 26m respectively going forward. What in the world does this mean cap-wise?

I think I'd pass. Seems to have lost a step and he has a bad attitude in a winning situation already. How are you going ot be miserable as the #1 WR on a super bowl contender?

Obviously there is a Vrabel connection and any quality player makes sense at a certain price, but I don't see it.

I don't think he's lost a step at all. AJ is a phenomenal athlete and the issue seems more internal.. his relationship with sirrinanni and Hurts... this usually carries over to the field... we've all seen how spectacular AJ is... if we traded for him that would mean Vrabel his coaches and his locker room leaders and people in the organization all have vetted him and all agree.. I'm sure there's some things AJ would have done differently but to each is own.. so we'll see..

I've seen potential asking price is a 3rd and a 5th... very, very doable... of course his contract would have to be " adjusted ".. Vrabel probably gives him more guaranteed $$.. to lower the annual? IDK I'm not some capologist.. Just know I like AJ brown and the idea of getting him should it ever happen..

If I remember right, there were locker room issues with him in TN.

Won't pretend I diligently watched PHI last year and even if I did I'm no scout... but to my untrained eye it seemed like he struggled getting separation. And then he had some focus issues with drops when he did get the ball thrown to him. Maybe the latter improves in a better situation, but the former issue is more concerning for me.

The team is way more trained in scouting then me (which isn't saying much lol) so they can certainly make a better call than I can.

I’ve read this a few times from other posters and I’ll say the same thing I said to the previous AJ Brown thread. The Eagles and Hurts don’t use him right. From what I’ve seen from Tennessee, no one aside from Larry Fitzgerald ran better slants and take them for big gains for such a big bodied wr. Josh would use him perfectly in this offense and we would reap the rewards imo.

That contract would have to be reworked. I think he wants to be here, he should of been here from the get go. We’ll see what happens.
Still have Gonzales and Maye to pay too so it may not be in the cards.

Go get him, he’s always let on he wanted to be a patriot. We need that physical freak outside the numbers who will open up the underneath routes.

Currently the information out there is a 3rd and a 5th is the asking price... I'm glad to see your post.. it's the best take on AJ I've seen.. and it's on the money.. he makes sense, he wants to be here and he fills a need.. on drakes contract still habe another season so definitely by end of next season he'll be done...Gonzo should be extended like yesterday..

Hurts was missing AJ by 2 yards this season.. on deep passes.. a more accurate QB like Drake hits AJ..

AJ has never been a huge separator although he can.. he's usually a half yard to a yard on his defenders.. hurts regresses last season and wasn't the same QB.. the play calling was also problematic for them... to me it's the internal factors whatever was transpiring within the organization had an obvious effect on AJ this season and the eagles offense as a whole.. Barkley and Smith weren't the same players either.. but I see your point though.. it's amazing how energized players become when they get in a new situation with a new team.. I think of if could happen AJ would thrive and elevate this offense..

Hmm sounds like Schefter believes in AJ Brown trade coming soon?

Rumor speculation video:

If the trade price for Brown is a 2nd rounder or less. Does this start to make sense for the Patriots?

3rd and 6th

Take it or leave it.
Even a 3rd is a little too rich for my blood. 4th and a 6th? 5th and 2 6ths, sure.

Otherwise?

Multiple first round picks for AJ Brown is batshit crazytown. Then again, you had people here who wanted to trade a first for Justin Fields, so...

Anything coming from Schefter has real merit.. I remember when he broke the mayo news game day morning.. it makes so much sense.. to get AJ..Hurts has regressed and there's seemingly some dysfunction within the offense/coaching, ect.. he's clearly frustrated... for anyone questioning AJs production still put up over 1,000 in a "down " season...
